AIBU?

...to fantasise about new neighbours..

The house opposite me has been sold. Previously owned by a rather private man on his own...

I would like a poet with floppy hair, but a builder's body. I want him to be of course single - but a single parent would be lovely, with a lovely teenage boy for my daughter.

My daughter is not so optimistic...'It will be two ugly old men, mum. You know our luck.'

I can dream. Romance without effort. No travel. Convenient.

Lazy, much? I also sound like a bad short story in Woman's Wotsit....

Be careful what you wish for. I wished for a family to move in next door after lots of single tenants.

Oh dear.

We were very happy when a lovely single lady moved in this time.

Every time a house in our cul de sac is up for sale I fantasise about the new neighbours. Mine are more girls for my DC to play with, nice parents and no smelly little football playing boys who will try to date said DDs when they are older Grin
Good luck OP, hope you get your fantasy neighbour.

I wished for quiet old people, perhaps hard of hearing so we could make noise and not have to worry if we were noisy neighbours, I got a family with 3 boys! They are lovely though and I remembered having an elderly downstairs neighbour in a flat who used to have her TV volume up so loud we could listen to her Coronation Street when our windows were open!

A lovely single man would be nice, but imagine dating a neighbour and it not working out but the neighbour staying...

I'm about to move, and hoping to find a lovely selection of bohemian types, lots of interesting yet happy families, like in one of those 'everyone is differen' books, except everyone is an artist or whatever and we can pop in and out of houses and have board game nights and learn how to cook world dishes etc

Someone I vaguely know has just had to leave the street due to terribke neighbours taking against her, so I'm possibly being optimistic, but it is near a university and a fairly multicultural area, so possibly...

ISee Hmm shush don't spoil it for me, she seems very nice (although in comparison to the previous creepy lot I'm not asking for much really.

Actually she looks like she might be an MNer

The house next door to me has just sold. I hear Bradley Cooper is buying it. Also David Beckham will be his room mate!

The house next door to me is up for sale, I never thought about my fantasise neighbour.

But someone who says hello would be nice, the previous lot had poles very firmly wedged up their derrières!

I'm thinking the builder's body will not match the poet/floppy hair head
it'd be odd like one of the puzzles where you twirl round the body parts
will he have policeman legs for example

I live in a cul-de-sac of seven houses and three have been up for sale recently, two sold SST so long as thye dont find out about the loopy neighbour in the last week. I really do hope we get some friendly families. We have a couple of friendly neighbours but also some retired ones, they are what I would call family houses so have been surprised there aren't many children here

Pam, a pole can also be a long, cylindrical, often slender piece of wood, metal, etc.: a telephone pole; a fishing pole.

Saying that someone has a pole shoved up their arse is implying they are uptight.

I was not implying they had people of polish decent shoved up their bums.

It's almost as interesting thinking about incoming neighbors as being the new one yourself.
Our old NDNs were OK, I was hoping for more fun. Our current ones are Chinese (not surprisingly) and ATM have four four metro tall sticks of sugar cane threatening to fall on me every time I open my front door.
