to think a 2yo should not be allowed to run around for an entire school show?

DD's secondary show put on a variety show over 3 nights - singing, dancing, comedy acts, drama etc, all the usual stuff. We went last night, and a mum sitting in the front row with a little girl, around 2yo, was letting her get up and dance in front of the stage before the show - there was music playing and everyone was smiling at this little mite twirling and laughing.

Then the show started with a couple of musical numbers, and by the second one, this little girl was up again, dancing.

She did it through the whole show. Every time there was music, up she popped, ran to the front of the stage, danced a few steps, ran back to mum, ran back to the stage, over and over again. Not just in the big dance numbers either, there were two girls singing and it was so obvious they were trying not to be distracted by the toddler.

I know it was only a school production, but they tried so hard to make it very professional and polished, I was for them because this little girl must have been driving them mad.

YANBU to think that the parent (or a member of staff) could have asked the child to stop, but if "everyone" was smiling and laughing, where's the harm?

Once is ok and cute, through the entire show is not ok. The parents ought to have distracted her, taken her out or not brought her. I adore toddlers and think they are endlessly amusing but it's not fair to let the distract from the hard work of the older children.

Very ,very inconsiderate IMO and the reason why a lot of primary schools now discourage and indeed ban younger siblings from performances . It's a pity no one had the balls to go and tell the woman to control her child.

If I'd been sitting near her I'd have said something - I can't understand why someone else didn't, or why a teacher didn't have a quiet word in the interval.

Yanbu, the mother should have tried to keep the little girl quiet.

Not cute. The performers are only children and have been practising and practising for the show. It is VVU that a parent should allow this to happen.

I thought I was just being a grouch. I asked DD if she'd noticed the little girl but she hadn't, but DD's act was a drama presentation so the toddler had stayed with her mum through it. It annoyed me because I'd spent my money on a ticket to watch the children perform, and I spent most of the show silently seething.
