buying on Ebay then giving as a present

Im not doing it but did think twice. I bought a nice piece of jewellery on there, in box etc.

If i HAD decided to give it to a family member as a gift would that
a) be crap
B) be a cunning bargain
c) be ok as long as i said " its not brand new"
d) another

I give secondhand gifts to family all the time. However I know that my family likes shopping in charity shops and would not be offended. With other people I would generally ask first and it would depend on the item.

Well theres no need to say. If you think the gift would suit the recipient then why not. It's been given from the heart. I gave a book to my sons friend for his birthday from Oxfam. It wad about space and he loved it. Mil got an ornament from help the aged for Xmas off kids.

I dont see what the problem is. It's an item you think they'd like, therefore its a suitable present.

I'd actually never considered that people might not like a gift from ebay. Have I offended a load of people without them ever telling me?

Can you tell it's second hand? Is it actually second hand as a lot of people sell crafty things on there?

I probably wouldn't gift second-hand clothing, but if it's jewellery it's probably "as new" anyway, so who would know?

My aunties bought DS some lovely babygros when he was born; they were clearly second hand ones but lovely, interesting ones in bright colours. I was pleased they'd taken the time and effort.
