to think DH and DS should have dealt with the poo

I was hiding in the kitchen, watching Call the Midwife on iplayer (as DH hates it with a passion), and DH and DS (aged 9) were watching football.

I go in to put DS to bed, and instantly smell poo. Ask, yep, DS has done a poo, in the loo. This doesn't explain smell. Further investigation reveals he's got it down his pyjama bottoms, down his legs, and ALL OVER THE CARPET AND RUG.

DS now asleep after another shower. Carpet scrubbed to death, but still smells, and I think it's on the posh rug, as I can smell it, but can't see any as its too tufted.

They'd been sitting there for at least half an hour!!!

confused Are there two DSs? Or has DS (9) got SN? Otherwise, why is he pooing on the carpet?

So ds had a tummy bug and dh didn't notice? How strange as it stinks?

Sometimes my 9 year old doesn't wipe properly, but never so bad as it to get through his pj's and onto our carpet (no posh rug here - cry) OR he's done a fart and followed through, but he'd SAY SOMETHING!

I'd be speaking to my DS if this happened, sternly, regarding cleaning yourself up after an accident. I'd also probably ask whether DH even noticed... he has a cold so can't smell, and sciatica which I think he's concentrating on far to much to notice anything other than a lifethreatening situation.

It's shit, literally, but I'd have cleaned it up too.

If you've scrubbed, leave it until tomorrow until you scrub again... the pooh smell will be in your nostrils now and your mind, and you won't get rid until you've stepped back a while.

Yes, it was the 9 year old. He's the sort of child who can walk into an empty room and instantly lose his school shoes. Absent minded is an understatement.

It wasn't loads, just enough to make a lot of smell - like he'd got a dodgy tummy and then not wiped properly.

We have had stern words. DH said he'd thought there was a funny smell, but the football was exciting.

Sprinkle some bi carb on when it dries.

They are a brains trust aren't they? Football is more interesting than cleaning up poo... there's a bloody revelation.

Would moist TP make a difference? I don't know what you can do about DH.

sittinginthesun I am chuckling at your DH, I actually would have smelled something, but if Miranda was on I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

YANBU though!

How did a nine year old get shit all over his leg and pjs and on the rug without noticing??? Rank.
