to think I might be wearing my trousers wrong?

With jeans in particular there is often a bit of squishing required but not to a great extent. Certainly not to the extent of digging right in.
YANBU sounds massively uncomfortable and a recipe for a lot of split trousers.
I would get an awful camel toe if I squeezed myself into jeans like that
Wear jeans that are slightly too big around the waist & have a belt. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than squishing yourself into something too small.
Jeans should be snug, but you shouldn't be squashed in. If it is uncomfortable, then it is too small in my book
I like a looser fit in clothes - it more comfortable and way more flattering. The 'squished into jeans a size too small' look is especially unstylish - avoid.
No! She's swishing all her internal organs. She must be in agony. Does she complain of backache? I get this when my jeans are too tight.
YANBU. I have very similar proportions to you, and always wear my jeans a big loose.
its always better to have a bigger size and be cumfy, eans should be tight but not painfull,
God no, surely it must make her stomach hurt?!
I wear mine a little loose with a belt though I do despair at times as it would be nice to have a pair that fit just nicely-12's feel a little big but 10's are definitely too small
And that is precisely the reason slimmer women can develop muffin tops.
Depends on the trousers - the material and the style.
I find that jeans require a bit of squishing when you put the on freshly-washed because they give a bit after an hour or so. If your jeans are easy to put on when freshly washed then they will look baggy by lunchtime. That's fine if that's the style, of course.
I highly doubt that she is squishing her internal organs.
I usually get caught out when buying jeans because apparently they stretch, so you should buy a slightly tight pair and 'wear them in'. I usually buy the pair that fit and then moan when they become slightly baggy and fall down. No advice. I hate clothes and clothes shopping!
I doubt either of you are 'wearing your trousers wrong'. You just each prefer a different fit. Shocker.
I would get terrible gas if I did that
For a start she isnt a size 10, she is a 12 who refuses to accept it!
If you struggle with jeans, try M&S, their "sit on the waist" jeans have the best fit I have found. Their cheaper pairs are £12.50 and wipe the floor with expensive ones. My sister only buys designer but even she has been converted!
I had a similar problem. Size 10 too big size 8 too small so I went and bought some jeans by inches instead. H&m do 27, 29, 31 waist measurements etc so in half sizes. But no squishing sounds like a recipe for all sorts of uncomfortable
Maybe I'm a bit simple minded but only I know what size is on my labels and so I buy trousers that fit and are comfortable. Most of the time I hope that they also flatter my shape.
I do not understand the obsession with what clothing size an individual is. Healthy and comfortable seem more important to me...
I wouldn't wear trousers that make me uncomfortable. Plus, a muffin top is NOT a good look! I think you look slimmer if you wear trousers that are slightly too big, than wearing a smaller size.
1. She is not a size 10
2. Does she ever sit down while wearing jeans?!
I think you look slimmer if you wear trousers that are slightly too big, than wearing a smaller size.
Totally agree with this.
Depends on the jeans to be fair. My favourite jeans certainly look better for being snug... I lie down to do them up, but once they're done up they are comfy (they're quite stretchy) with no muffin top. Another pair would be torturous if they were that tight.
Finding the right fit for your shape is more important than the actual size. For example, my sister gave me her GAP 'curvy' jeans, she's a pair shape and said they were the comfiest she had ever worn. On me they were painful, they fit, but they dug in in all the wrong places (no camel toe but it felt like cheesewire around my waist).
Dress to your shape, not your size, and try everything on.
If you can't be arsed with all that searching for the perfect fit, yes, buying a bigger size works well enough.
Sounds like a recipe for cystitis!
My M and S jeans that 'sit on the waist' stretch out within five minutes of being on and then fall down. NOT a good look. They're currently in the 'to be turned into kids clothes' basket.
I find it a difficult balance to strike. I have no waist as such so if jeans or trousers fit on then hips then it's a huge sucking in exercise or a belt over an unbuttoned waist band. If I buy them to fit my waist then they are way too baggy on the legs.
Mens jeans are a better cut for me but I'm very short and they don't look right.
