To think the pile em high approach doesn't work for childcare?

Young children are not baked bean cans. Cramming more into places they are cared for will not lead to a fall in prices, just a drop in quality.
That if you want to make childcare affordable you have to subsidise it or at the very least make the entire cost tax deductible?
That the way to raise standards is to pay carers more?
That good gcses are not essential and requiring them could reduce the pool of good carers even further?

but the government won't and can't subsidise it and the costs are astronomical.

lots of things should be tax deductable but the current political climate isn't going to do anything about that. reducing ratios seems the logical step.
