Sooooo.........currently 33wks pregnant and not sleeping well at all. Dp sets his alarm for 5:10 EVERY day but promptly falls back asleep until at least 6:15. I am not so fortunate and am now completely awake. Same story every day. AIBU to expect him to either get up at 5:15 or set the alarm later?? I currently want to smash his sleeping face with a heavy object!!!

Just change the alarm

What time does he need to get up? If it is 6.15 then he should set his alarm for then. Bloody rude to wake you an hour earlier than required.

Why does he set his alarm if he doesn't need to get up?

YNBU by the way.

Try playing with your ring tones each time you wake up in the night - just enough to disturb sleeping DP - apologise loudly and explain you were going to wake up early for bladder management but will now give it another hour! After a few nights disturbed sleep with OH (they can sometimes learn slowly) I think he will get the pattern and want to 'talk' to you about the early wake up calls and use of alarms where upon you can say, what a good idea maybe we could both try not to disturb the other one unnecessarily - cue unified bliss! If that doesnt work default to afore mentioned smashing.

My dh is like this. His alarm goes off 6:45 (when, admittedly, he flushes teen dd out of bed) but then every 5 mins on snooze to 7:15 (when ds and dd2 have to get up).

He then spends 5-10 mins fooling about with them - the minute I say they have to get ready he's snoring again!

He finally gets up about 7.35 when I've been up for ages (can't sleep through the rubbish!!)

Leaves with younger dc at 8.

Then today the bed is ALL MINE !

YANBU. My OH used to do that as well as keeping me awake snoring all night! He now sleeps in the spare room and I sleep with the baby. Mind u, she wakes up at 5! Can't win...

My husband does something similair. He sets the alarm for 6.45 but doesn't get up until 7 - 7.10. When he does get up he leaves the alarm on snooze while he goes for a shower. So I have to hear it go off AGAIN while he's in the shower!! It's a good defence for murder I think

Oh he also sets the clock to be 10 minutes fast... just to freak me out!!

I like your thinking middleeasternpromise, will give that a go. Might take a while he is a slow learner!!
Still sleeping now btw, and snoring. Tops it off nicely don't you think....

Oh dear. YANBU. But I do this! I'm terrible for it but DH doesn't seem to mind...

Why not just keep prodding him saying "it's time to get up, your alarm went off" from 5:10?

Ok so he may be a slow waker and "need" that time, but a) he's an adult who should show more consideration and b) surely you'd have already known that before you got pg, the implication being that this is not the first time you've shared a bed Wink

I hate this. I hate it with a passion. My DH does it. Sets about five alarms, then faffs around and does everything in ten minutes. I swear it would be easier to get a 13 year old out of the house.

Every morning I say I'm not going to get wound up. He's an adult- if he misses his train/flight then so be it. Every morning I find myself panicking while he's in a flap.

YAdefinitelyNBU

Purplepidjin we have shared a bed before, yes, but unfortunately this is a brand new habit. Has happened every day for the past 4ish weeks.
I prod/poke/kick saying "alarms gone off" to which he replies "I know" then goes straight back to blissful sleep!!!! Might have to start having monumental tantrums to change habit Angry

No. YANBU. My dh does that, sets alarm on his phone, and then puts it on snooze about three times before he actually gets up. His alarm is Guns and R0oses or something similar noisy and annoying - it drives me mental every morning, and I am very grumpy by the time he actually gets up!

HecateWhoopass · 29/01/2013 09:11

Turn on light and whip bedding off him. Talk loudly about plans for the day.

If his alarm went off, clearly it's time to get up, right?

so whatever time his alarm goes off - get up, get some light and start the day.

I give it a week before that alarm is reset to 6:15

Ive always done this, its so I have the bliss of being able to go back to sleep cos its not yet time to get up, so I can understand why he does it.

Disturbing you isnt on though.

AmberLeaf · 29/01/2013 09:12

Kicking someone under the covers isnt on either! and if someone pulled the covers of me while I was sleeping id leave them!

When his alarm goes off at 5.10am, turn all the lights on , open the curtains and stomp around the room to wake him up. Don't let him fall asleep again.

To be honest - I've managed to stop my OH doing this. When his alarm goes off, I bring him a cup of coffee and turn the light on. It's taken a few weeks, but now he actually has about an hour to wash etc before work, where before he was rushing around in ten minutes and always late for work. And he sets his alarm later :)

YANBU - My DH does the same.... his alarm will go off about 5 times before he actually gets out of his scratcher. RAGE!

YANBU, it is annoying. My partner does a similar thing, sets his alarm early then keeps pressing snooze until about 45 minutes later. It wasn't a problem before as I would be leaving for work when his alarm first went off but now I'm on sick leave it ruins my lie-ins! It used to bother me but now I think it probably evens out as I have to use the bathroom several times during the night so I sometimes wake him then :)

He also does the staying in bed until the last possible minute, then has a long, luxurious shower before running around like a headless chicken to get to work on time! It used to really stress me out as I hate being late but I'm learning to ignore it.

Why not get up when his alarm goes off, pop down the road to get the paper, fix him a lovely fried breakfast and serve it to him in bed?

Hahahahahaha!

Or set his alarm for 4:15 am that way he has an hour's kip and you have time to fall back to sleep.
