AIBU?

To want my fucking post delivered to me without a lazy bastard dropping cards through my door and running off?

Happens to me all the time. Royal Mail are shit, do fuck all about complaints and it only happens again the next week. Why am I and every other person paying taxes for such an awful service?? I have heard the postmen on countless occasions not bother to knock at my door, rather they shove the sorry you were out card in and scamper off as fast as they can. Have caught one once and he didn't have any excuse for himself. What else can I fucking do? I'm pregnant and knackered and these cunty idiots don't consider it would take me a nice 45 mins to walk to the sorting office (no car and wrong directed bus route). Rant over.

YANBU. I completely agree. Lazy buggers!

Read the card...it says you can arrange for another delivery.

I would complain in writing to the sorting office manager and make sure you get a reply in writing.

YANBU I have the exact same problem, I have complained numerous times, even been to the sorting office and complained.

Even when arranging a redelivery because they've left one of the sodding cards, they don't bother knocking then either! Drives me into a rage.

Arranging for re delivery has a high chance of the entire thing happening all over again so pretty pointless in my book.

" they shove the sorry you were out card in and scamper off as fast as they can."

I thought this was a tactic used by delivery companies when they didn't actually have the package with them. By saying you were out they can still meet targets and seems as if they actually did try and deliver it, when they didn't actually have the manpower to deliver everything. It just looks like do.

Read that somewhere (probably here).

I caught my postman doing this when asked about it he looked really abashed. Said he was really sorry and but then says well you are not usually in and it doesnt make sense to drage your parcel all the way round my route back to the sorting office

I so wanted to say well is that not what you are paid for ?? but I smiled sweetly and said thats ok.. he is probs thinking sucker

Infuriating I agree.

I have read somewhere though that in many cases the postmen are set rather unrealistic targets for how many houses they cover in a shift so probably if they had to stand and knock and wait and knock and wait again at every door where there was a large packet they would not be able to achieve their targets.

Don't know if this actually is the case but if so then the issue is probably more with senior management than the individual postie.

Could you put a note on your front door, "Im home but a little slow answering, please wait with my mail?"

Pigsmummy · 22/01/2013 13:27

I agree that the sign is a good idea and rather than walk ask for a redelivery.

Yes, I've had that happen when I was literally standing at the other side of the front door.

I've had this happen so many times! When caught they simply say that policy is not to carry heavy parcels on them! It's been so frustrating. Complaints do nothing. Angry

I've started voting with my money and using MyHermes for parcels instead. They collect from you instead of having to go to the post office and I've had nowt but good feedback from the recipients.

5foot5 - I think there was a TV programme a few years ago about the unrealistic targets posties were set for their rounds. The speed with which they were expected to walk, whilst carrying the heavy bag, in order to meet those targets, was really fast!

Meh.

My postman hasn't even bothered to come up our road since Thursday.

It's flat and ice-free, and all the roads are clear.

FFS.

Don't diss RM. If it all gets privatised you'll end up with higher prices AND a shit service!!

We had a postman who did this all the time and it used to drive me completely crazy.

We now have a lovely postman, if there's something to sign for and I'm not in, he just signs it for me and leaves it - we do live out in the sticks though.

This NEVER happens to me with the various postmen we've had over the last few years.

Report

Never had a problem. And with RM and every other delivery man we have had almost ALL leave them with one of our 2 neighbours. Wonder why we are so lucky to get them to leave it with our neighbours. Never asked them to do this.

What happened to the idea of leaving parcels with neighbours?

I've had a jolly today. Nipped out for 10 minutes and missed Parcelforce - who have taken the decision to deliver my parcel to the nearest Post Office. I have no option of redelivery when this is done. I have to actually walk to the PO (I have no car) and see if I can carry it back. Not easy for me.

I may, even, have to pay a fee for this. (The card is a little unclear on this but I'm going to fight that one.)

I feel a strong letter coming on.

I'm still waiting for a parcel sent out on Dec 19th. No card through the door and not at the delivery office. I contacted the seller (company) and they're now resending a duplicate order...

On the plus side, our regular postman is good and will wait a few mins for us to get to the door. Previous one used to sign for our stuff and leave it safely in our garden if we were out.
