I work 30 hours a week (no hardship I know) I finish in time to pick the kids up from school then the rest of the day is taking kids to various after school activities (3 kids) after making dinner\dishes\making packed lunches etc by the time I sit down its bedtime.

Dh works a lot of hours. Last night he worked from 8pm-3am, he's still in bed. I promised DD4 I'd take her sledging. My ironing pile is hitting the ceiling, the bathroom needs scrubbed and basically the whole house needs a going over.

I have horrendous PMT today, I'm tired teary. Its the anniversary of my dads death today and everything is just getting to me. Apart from going to work I'm with the kids constantly with no break at all.

Wibu to waken Dh and ask him to take dd sledging for a couple of hours to let me get the house in order? I can't really remember the last time he done anything like this. As I said he works long hours and will be out nightshift again tonight but he's had about 9 hours uninterrupted sleep now with no sign of moving any time soon.

I think that would be fair. He'd probably have fun. I would also suggest that he have a break this evening before he goes out to work. At a later date I would sit down with him and work out a schedule for time off for both of you.

So sorry about your dad.

Thanks :)

Looks like I'm going sledging. He has a headache. Oh well.

Sorry about your dad. I presume he hasn't remembered, otherwise he'd have been out of bed like a shot.

I'd take him a glass of water with a couple of paracetamols and tell him the bathroom needs cleaning when the tablets have kicked in.

be honest with him and tell him you can't manage every bloody thing whle he is tasked with going to work and that's it, even if they are long hours.

Thanks for your replies.

That's me just home and he's making dinner. still got the ironing and housework to contend with right enough. Wish all I had to worry about is work...Just having one of those days I guess.

8pm till 3am is not that long surely? Must be harder being through the night, but same as a 9-4 job. Agree with suggestion that, when you have an hour together, you sit down and arrange for some time off. I've started going to a fitness class, even that feels like a break.

Do you get to lie in bed for nine hours and refuse to do anything because you have a 'headache' then?

Glad he made dinner. honestly though..knackered,pmt, anniversary or your dad's death, seriously trumps a headache after a 9 hour kip!! DO you feel he normally pulls his weight?

Last nights shift was a one off, he normally does 12 hour shifts and is on rotational shifts.

He said he got out o bed at 3.30pm today! So that was 12 hours sleep. Can't remember the last time I had that, definitely pre kids anyway.

Whenever I mention helping out more he gets annoyed because sometimes he makes dinner/takes the bins out/puts a washing on so it feels like I'm nagging him. I just want a break, the thought of another week of the same is pissing me off. He knows I'm annoyed and fed up so will speak to him when kids are in bed.
