AIBU?

To be a geeky Doctor Who fan?

I am a massive Doctor Who fan hence my user name. I have all the stories on DVD or video, have most of the books which have been well read. Subscribe to Doctor Who Magazine and am a member of The Doctor Who Appreciation Society and have had a couple of articles I've written published in their magazine. My DH can't understand my love of it, he tolerates the new episodes but refuses to watch any of the older ones. He is away at the moment so I'm having a Doctor Who marathon.

Please tell me I'm still 'normal'.

Well if you're not neither am I Grin

Of my household three of us are massive Dr WHo fans, me, DD2 aged 18 and DS2 15. DS2 has autism and learning difficulties but his knowledge of Dr Who is phenomenal. We love to quote episodes at each other and the rest of the family think we are a bit sad!

But who cares!!!?

(Also serious Buffy freaks too!)

There are lots of us on here, including at least one official writer!

I've been a fan since the start, when I was 7 years old. Luckily for me, DH is also a fan - we were both at the first ever Doctor Who convention, which was at a small school hall somewhere in South London.

Normal is overrated Grin

Been watching since the 3rd Doctor.

Glad there are so many of us out there. Would love to go to a convention to meet like minded fans as don't know any in RL.

Love The Doctor (hence my user name!!)

DH bought me all of the David Tennant dvds for christmas last year, best present ever.
Even DD (9) is a total Dr Who geek too, she knows loads of stuff about it and watches them all with me.

Like your user name Gallifrey. Hoping my DD will love it too already 'showing' her episodes even tough she is only 10 months old. Never too early!

You are NEVER unreasonable to love the Doctor. Massive geek here too. We even call my dog Bad Wolf...

But then, I love Doctor Who, Star Trek, Buffy, Angel and all sorts of geektastic things so I may not be the most unbiased opinion ever Wink

And I taught the Bad Wolf to drop "dead" on a dalek impression "Exterminate" Grin

I think he is here occasionally but has namechanged, Casey.

Glad to see you're starting your DD young, Geekster - my DD grew up in the gap between the classic Who and the New series, so we had to bring her up on the videos - I think Tom Baker is still her favourite Doctor.

Bah. He had the best name on Mumsnet.

DS has David Tennant as his Doctor. DD1 has Matt Smith as hers and unless MS sticks around for a good while DD2 will have whoever Twelve is. Still, should make for some lively discussions at mealtimes.
