(Read a comment on my previous thread and it got me thinking)

I always lock the bathroom door, but I think that's just a habit because I lock it even when there's no one else in the house.

I would possibly wee in front of oh but never have done.

As for anything else - hell no.

He's pissed with me in the same room countless times but I draw the line at him having a shit whilst I'm brushing my teeth, or in the bath etc.

In a way I think it can almost kiss the romance.

cantspel Thu 10-Jan-13 23:46:22

no some things just are not for sharing.

weegiemum Thu 10-Jan-13 23:48:03

But my kids - try and stop them coming in!!

fosterdream Thu 10-Jan-13 23:48:35

NEVER, even when heavily in a long labour with DD1 and he had to help me go the bathroom I told him to turn around as "I still have my dignity".

SparkleSoiree Thu 10-Jan-13 23:49:09

Nope, never. There has to be some air of mystery about life somewhere even if its just bathroom habits!

PomBearWithAnOFRS Thu 10-Jan-13 23:49:33

I did once but it was an absolutely direly urgent necessity and I was mortified.
He was in the bath wallowing and I was ill, ill I say <gets a grip> and had to go right now and just burst into the bathroom and onto the loo, with my eyes averted to the wall (and it's not like I've never seen my husband naked hmm so goodness knows why) and told him I was going to be there Quite Some Time and that there was no way on Earth I was going to wipe my bum be able to finish off with him there. He got out of the bath and vacated for me bless him.
Weeing with people there doesn't bother me one bit, they can't see anything anyway. Even in crowded pub toilets, I will use the cubicle with no door on just so I can jump the queue because hardly anyone else ever seems to be able to go in view of passers by so to speak.

TraineeBabyCatcher Thu 10-Jan-13 23:49:56

Weeing I'm not bothered about doing in front of him, but number 2s should be done alone.

Dp seems to think that he needs to tell me when he's off for a number 2. Even though I've told him I really don't need/want to know.

nannyof3 Thu 10-Jan-13 23:51:10

Oh come on....

Weve both pee'd and poo'd shockgrin

PaellaUmbrella Thu 10-Jan-13 23:51:14

Weeing yes. Pooing no.

stargirl1701 Thu 10-Jan-13 23:52:03

Yes I have weed when we lived in a farm cottage with one loo. We now have 3 loos so I don't.

Never pooed.

CharlLaneoxo Thu 10-Jan-13 23:52:22

TraineeBabyCatcher mine is the same.

He told me quite proudly today that he'd had a "shit, shower and shave" in half an hour.

deleted203 Thu 10-Jan-13 23:52:23

I could wee with him sitting in the bath next to me. I couldn't manage a poo, even after all these years.

insertsomethingwitty Thu 10-Jan-13 23:52:54

No never.

DoodlesNoodles Thu 10-Jan-13 23:53:09

No, but I could pee in front of him if I really needed to.

shesariver Thu 10-Jan-13 23:53:10

Its no big deal for DH and I, for both.

500internalerror Thu 10-Jan-13 23:53:16

Have once, when I needed help after an op. I hated it, would never again. I'm not remotely prudish, but some things just aren't necessary!

Spuddybean Thu 10-Jan-13 23:53:27

Wee - yes. Changing tampon - yes. Poo - no, definitely not.

i take it it was my comment that got you thinking grin !

TraineeBabyCatcher Thu 10-Jan-13 23:55:14

He will do things like get up off the sofa and say 'I'm just going for a shit'. I really don't see the need. He knows this. He's been told that if he really needs to say something then say 'I'm going to the loo'.

Why they feel the need to tell us I have no idea?!

chickensarmpit Thu 10-Jan-13 23:55:38

I have never pooped in front my my OH, i won't do one if he's in the house!
I have a weird thing about it hmm . We've been together for 15 years and he's forever bursting into the bathroom while i'm in the bath to poop shock

PomBearWithAnOFRS Thu 10-Jan-13 23:56:19

Does anyone else think that it is totally amazing how Mam's arse hitting the toilet seat immediately triggers a desperate need for the toilet in all her children?
Especially in a one-loo house (or anywhere where there are less toilets than there are mother and children added together)
The instant I get comfy, at least one and usually more of my DCs is dancing on the landing shouting they "need a wee" or "am desperate for a POO" and although I can get away with telling the boys to "pee in the bucket in the kitchen" if they're that desperate I think they just like peeing in the bucket, rod for own back and all that when I once told DD she'd have to hang on and didn't believe she really needed yet another wee she peed in my new fluffy slippers that were on the landing... hmm

MerylStrop Thu 10-Jan-13 23:57:39

No no no
Nor do I put on my tights in front of him
Otherwise no mystery
Although I did poo prolifically in front of him whilst in labour. But that doesn't count.

kissmyshineymetalass Thu 10-Jan-13 23:58:02

No never and I wouldn't like it if he did either.I used to no someone who would hold her DP cock while he pissed and shook it off for him,I have no idea why and he would wipe her after she had pissedconfused

Trinpy Thu 10-Jan-13 23:59:33

Sometimes. If one of us is in the shower and the other one is desperate.

Only wees though. You have to draw the line somewhere grin

cantspel Thu 10-Jan-13 23:59:38

words fail me....why?

MrsAFlowerpot Fri 11-Jan-13 00:03:12

No no no no

Smellslikecatspee Fri 11-Jan-13 00:03:17

As we both have bowel problems, meh, half our lives are sitting on the loo.

But never ever wipe in front of him, somethings have to be left to imagination grin

Oh and the tights jumpy up and down thing; never. . .

5madthings Fri 11-Jan-13 00:11:10

Wee yes, poo no!

CharlLaneoxo Fri 11-Jan-13 00:12:09

I get embarrassed if I use a public toilet and other people can hear me wee

(what's wrong with me?! everyone does it!)

I once leant so far forward so there wouldn't be any noise and I accidentally peed a little on my jeans - cringe haha.

Binfullofresolutionsfor10thjan Fri 11-Jan-13 00:24:35

Everything, but I prefer a lone poo if I'm honest. Don't care about weeing, and DH sits down for a wee, so I don't have to face a torrent of hot steamy slam in the morning if I'm brushing my teeth.

But poo's are very seldom private, as I usually have to sit there and give my opinion on a Lego jet, or rocket ship because I'm easy prey for DS.(Sitting target)

Porkster Fri 11-Jan-13 00:29:59

Yes to wees or tampon changing, no to poos but only because of potential smelliness, not shyness.

HazeltheMcWitch Fri 11-Jan-13 00:30:47

I don't care who can hear me in a public loo. I just do whatever I've gotta do, and be on my way.

But at home - I have only weed in front of DH years ago, when both pissed and only 1 loo. No need to do it now, and I would really rather not. But if I had to, my world probably would not end. I'd not poo in front of him, no.

Actually, I really hate it when DC come in the loo too. I know I am meant to model behaviour, or whatever that phrase is, but I want a couple of moments peace; all I ask for is a solo crap!

MrsPoglesWood Fri 11-Jan-13 00:31:00

Of course! We've been together 28 years!

All you who claim you couldn't possibly wee or poo in front of your beloved to maintain the 'mystery' do surely realise that you are most probably farting in your sleep don't you? grin

Having said that though a friend of my DM's did tell her that her DH had never ever seen her naked in 40 years of marriage. Now that's mystery!!

JellicleCat Fri 11-Jan-13 00:32:11

WW yes. poo only if desparate, tampon changing no. He is happy to wee or poo with me there.

squeakytoy Fri 11-Jan-13 00:35:33

wee yep, if he is in the bath and taking ages.. poo never.. I have been known to make him get out of the bath while I nip in there for that!!!

starfishmummy Fri 11-Jan-13 00:37:33

Luckily our loo is not in the bathroom so there is no reason for aanyone else to be in there!

Praying4Beatrice Fri 11-Jan-13 00:39:48

I just don't get how people are so squeamish about it given that we're all sharing much more intimate things with our dh's.

But even I draw the line at dealing with a mooncup in front of dh.

baileysontherocks Fri 11-Jan-13 00:49:02

Wee yes poo no iv been with oh for 7 years and I will not go for a number 2 if he's in the house.
I haven't ever passed wind I front of him either or been sick in front or him. I just find it too shameful to do blush
I'm the same with my dc as well just in case they shout eeeew mum u just trumped lol, I get embarrassed really easy.

I have a friend who's oh tickled her once and a trump slipped out and she got that embarrassed she attacked him (not viciously) it was rather amusing and he thought so too although I wouldn't be that bad lol.

ComposHat Fri 11-Jan-13 00:58:22

of course we have.

One bathroom and week bladders. The cat's litter tray is in there so on occasions all three of us have occupied the bathroom simultaneously.

piprabbit Fri 11-Jan-13 00:58:23

My toilet time is my time. I refuse to share it with anyone now the DCs are old enough to be told to go away in no uncertain times.

It's less to do with dignity or shyness, or even keeping the romance. It is everything to do with having one teeny, tiny corner of my life which is mine and mine alone.

MrsPoglesWood Fri 11-Jan-13 01:01:34

Blimey baileys I hope you don't ever get Norovirus!

And I'm sorry I really don't get the shameful thing. Is your digestive system somehow different from your DH's or your DC's?

And of course you'll have passed wind in front of him. All humans fart during sleep. It's a fact of life. Babies and children fart when they're asleep. So do adults!

CoffeeandNumbers Fri 11-Jan-13 01:06:08

Have pooed in front of dh but not on purpose (in my defence I had been in itu a week prior!)

But nope, poops are for alone time only! Pee is fine tho.

Alisvolatpropiis Fri 11-Jan-13 01:06:42

No. Never. The idea that women might change their tampons in front of anyone else never mind DP's has left me truly [shocked]. Has never even crossed my mind before.

I am truly grateful that DP and my bouts of noro virus haven't overlapped. Though not at all grateful he gave it to me.

70isaLimitNotaTarget Fri 11-Jan-13 01:12:07

No, but my lovely DS (little git) decided to use the upstairs loo (walking past a perfectly good downstairs loo) so that he could use the toilet while I was in the bath.
I pulled the curtain across and he "Did a Father Stone" (remember the Father Ted episode where the visiting priest uses the toilet and has a dump?)

He laughs like a drain hmm

Plomino Fri 11-Jan-13 01:20:25

No . Just no . His farts are bad enough to live with , being in the same room as the cause ... !

We have 3 loos in the house , why does everyone want the one I'm in ?

PuddingsAndPies Fri 11-Jan-13 01:23:48

When it's just me & DP in the house, we rarely close the door. I happily wee in front of him. I would always try to avoid pooing in front of him, but would do so if necessary (like if he was helping me in labour, etc) without much embarrassment.

I also change my tampon in front of him. In fact once he asked to watch more closely, out of curiosity. I let him. Maybe we are strangely open about these things, on reflection!

InLoveWithDavidTennant Fri 11-Jan-13 01:42:17

never! too much of an overshare imo! he has helped me to get to the loo (surgery, ill etc) but i kick him out before i do anything.

we've been together for 7 years and he saw me vom for the first time 4 weeks ago blush

InLoveWithDavidTennant Fri 11-Jan-13 01:45:54

ah now farting is different... we both do that in front of each other... actually we get quite competitive about it grin

im amazed my dh hadnt posted in this thread

PuddingsAndPies Fri 11-Jan-13 01:54:28

On our 4th date, I got so ridiculously drunk that I ended up naked & vomiting on the bathroom floor. Then slept there most of the night. Not my proudest or classiest moment, but it did rather set the tone grin

BovineUddersAkimbo Fri 11-Jan-13 01:59:20

Just asked DH if he would be put off by my pooing in front of him. Response was 'I don't want to smell the waft or hear the plop.' Charming.

Would prefer to conduct all toileting acts in private, but Dh likes to sing ' Tinkle tinkle little star' if he hears anything through the door. And eldest daughter likes to try to push me off the toilet so she can play drums on the lid.

SashaSashays Fri 11-Jan-13 02:09:51

I have a bladder the size of a pea and we used to only have one bathroom so we often overlapped. Typically now I have my morning wee while he's in the shower.

Haven't ever poo'd in front of him but he has in front of me. Thats to do with I can't poo (except when in norovirus type situations) when anyone is even outside the door. I can only poo at home or whatever is our home at the time. So I don't mind going in our hotel room but I couldn't go in say the hotels lobby toilets.

Wouldn't be embarrassed to change tampon in front of him but I never could because the man is so bloody squeamish the blood from a minor papercut results in him going a nasty green colour and needing a sit down, it would just be too much of a palava.

Can't see what the big deal is, this is someone who spends quite a bit of time with his face around my nether regions.

MrsPoglesWood Fri 11-Jan-13 02:10:05

To be honest I think the sooner you get used to each other's erm intimate moments the better. When you've been together 10+ years it shouldn't be a surprise that you poo, have the runs, fart or vomit. We all do it and witnessing it the odd time isn't going to suddenly kill the love and affection. And if it does then there's something wrong with you to be honest.

I think mine and DP's relationship is so much the better for it. There is no sneaking about, holding out for a poo for hours til one of us leaves the house, pretending we don't fart or anything like that. We are just open, honest and most often have a laugh about it.

I would absolutely hate to be in the position of my BF's parents who maintained the facade for years that neither weed, pooed, farted or vomited until her DF was diagnosed with cancer. Her DM then had to nurse him after surgery and through radiotherapy and chemo when he lost every ounce of dignity he had strived to maintain through 50 years of marriage. Having to care for him intimately - cleaning and toileting him and ultimately changing his colostomy bag - was as hard for her as having to watch him go through the treatments.

And if me and DP seeing each other on the loo saves us from that trauma then I'm glad!

Kytti Fri 11-Jan-13 02:27:23

? confused Really? confused Nobody wees and poos in front of their OH? REALLY? confused confused confused We've been doing it since about week 4. Both. Always. Why the stress?

Don't get it.

ComposHat Fri 11-Jan-13 02:32:19

I haven't ever passed wind I front of him either or been sick in front or him. I just find it too shameful

Blimey has a portal transported. you fromte Regency period?

Go on be a devil tomorrow night and have a right rip snorting d'oyly carte tomorrow whilst eating tea. You won't know yourself.

anonymosity Fri 11-Jan-13 02:36:58

wees only, poos - never!

MammaTJ Fri 11-Jan-13 04:18:24

No, no, no!! Just NO!!!!

Lavenderhoney Fri 11-Jan-13 05:30:37

Pombears, mine do that even though we have 3 loos it has to be the one I am in.
I like an air of mystery as wellsmile dh doesn't see a problem and comes into the bathroom where I am doing my face and plonks down to chat at the same time. Cue me - there are other loos!!!

I did it all when I was prgnt though. Stopped after. I couldn't get my own pants on as I was too big to bend, so I had to have intimate helpsmile

LovesBeingAtHomeForChristmas Fri 11-Jan-13 05:32:15

No been together nealy 20 years and not gonna happen. Tis the quickest way to get him out of the bathroom though, just go to pull down my pants and sit down grin

catgirl1976 Fri 11-Jan-13 06:00:56

I could wee in an emergency but that's it

meadow2 Fri 11-Jan-13 06:25:30

I dont think its a big deal.It doesnt kill romance and its normal

Shutupanddrive Fri 11-Jan-13 07:49:17

MrsKeithRichards Fri 11-Jan-13 08:18:51

Pee all the time, never poo. We don't even have a lock on the bathroom door, it's hardly ever shut properly!

diddl Fri 11-Jan-13 08:32:00

We don´t make a habit of it & we don´t watch each other wipe our arses, but if one is in the shower, at the sink, wanders in for a chat, we don´t care.

He´s seen me give birth-& I pooed then!

When the children were little & he would get to the loo when arriving home from work, they´d both run up with him & sit on his knee telling him about their day.

Now the cat sits on his knee when he poos.grin

shotofexpresso Fri 11-Jan-13 09:01:24

Wee -yes , but I always have my legs tightly together and I have to have my legs tightly together whilst *ahem wiping.

he likes to come in when I'm in the bath though! Ima start locking the door!

thegreylady Fri 11-Jan-13 09:05:07

No never-either of us.I don't lock the door if I am having a wee but I close it. Farting is fine IMHO as long as it is just us there neither of us minds at all.

madonnawhore Fri 11-Jan-13 09:12:55

We wee in front of each other. DP will happily have a poo with the bathroom door wide open so I'm treated to the sight of him on the throne playing chess on his iPad.

After the first few instances of this I cracked and pleaded of him 'Why? Why are you subjecting me to this? Do you hate me? Do mine eyes deserve it?!'

And he looked really hurt and said 'No, I just feel really comfortable around you'.

So now I let him get on with it. I don't really mind tbh. We're both quite down to earth about bodily functions and stuff. No prudery here. It's impossible. Especially when DSD loves to announce when she's done a fart or a poo.

Bunbaker Fri 11-Jan-13 09:17:00

"no some things just are not for sharing."

I agree. Have never done so, never will.

Twattybollocks Fri 11-Jan-13 09:32:18

Yes I do. I've given birth in front of him, having a pee is small fry really. I don't poo in front of him if I can possibly avoid it, as no one likes to smell someone else's shit, but if he was in the shower and I was desperate, I might!

januaryjojo Fri 11-Jan-13 09:36:26

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

EasilyBored Fri 11-Jan-13 09:36:27

No. Never ever ever. Some things are just private. I have a hard enough time convincing DS that he doesn't need to flush the loo four times while on sat on it. Husband thinks it weird to even use the loo in front of DS (who is one), so not a chance in hell of us doing toilet things in front of each other.

FriendlyLadybird Fri 11-Jan-13 09:39:36

No. Though very early on in our relationship I had terrible food poisoning -- stuff coming out of me in all directions while I was fainting because of dehydration. He looked after me the whole night and cleaned up everything -- and didn't say a word about it. I knew then that he was a keeper.

Fakebook Fri 11-Jan-13 09:40:26

Never. DH has wee'd whilst I was showering though. Some things must be kept private.

Both my children however, have seen me poo and wee from the day they were born.

scarletforya Fri 11-Jan-13 09:42:08

No way. Ever. No one wants to be present when someone else craps!

curiousuze Fri 11-Jan-13 09:42:13

Never and I hope I never have to! Who wants to smell see that??

Flobbadobs Fri 11-Jan-13 09:43:58

Yep, both as does he. After 15 years and 3 labours I have nothing to hide!
DH takes his laptop to the loo if he thinks he's going to be there a while, we actually chose our new tent while he was on the loo! (And yes, he cleans the keyboard with antibac wipes regularly).

MrsMelons Fri 11-Jan-13 09:44:16

I like to have a few minutes privacy now and then and like the thought of mine and DHs intimacy not being weeing/pooing in front of each other. I wee in front of my friends and when I lived with lots of girls we would wee when each other were in the shower etc but not with partners.

I lock the door so the DCs can't disturb me!

DreamySleepyNightySnoozySnooze Fri 11-Jan-13 09:47:39

Yes, we're not bothered by each other's bodily functions. They're only natural, and our house is so tiny it's hard not to be aware of what the other is doing, even if we close the door.

mrsjay Fri 11-Jan-13 09:48:53

No never some things are bloody sacred and weeing and pooing is 1 of them why would I want him in the loo with me , and me him, although my dh has a disgusting habit of leaving the bathroom door open if he is peeing, It is vile and I tell him, even my children once they got to a 'safe age' I wouldn't let them in ,

mrsjay Fri 11-Jan-13 09:55:46

? Really? Nobody wees and poos in front of their OH? REALLY? We've been doing it since about week 4. Both. Always. Why the stress?

yes really why all the faces ( that wouldn't paste) I have been with my dh 24 years I dont need piss and poo in front of him nothing to do wit mystery everything to do with privacy I dont want to share my ablutions with anybody why would I

VestaCurry Fri 11-Jan-13 09:56:30

No, except dh had to help me to the loo and back during a quite long hospital stay when I was very ill. He got me and my wheelie thing with all the drips on, and carried my catheter bag, sat me onto loo safely, waited outside, then got me off loo and back to bed. Luckily I was in a side room with an en suite because I was so poorly. He slept in a chair in the room for a week too, bless him.
Times like that, when you are at your most vulnerable is when you find out how much your partner loves you.

mrsjay Fri 11-Jan-13 10:07:05

yes My dh has helped me too vesta when I have been ill it of course it was needed but in general I like a bit of peace and quiet

FruitOwl Fri 11-Jan-13 10:11:56

Wee - yes. Poo - no. As they say in SATC, "an open-door dump is worth dumping someone over" grin
My ex used to announce he was off for a poo by saying "I'm going to feed the toilet" <vom>

Alwaysasking Fri 11-Jan-13 10:22:57

Haha we do both! We used to just wee, but on our first holiday abroad my tummy suffered, hotel room was tiny and there was no way of hiding it! Since then I don't care, he's seen everything - pooing, weeing, taking tampons out. And I think we are stronger for it! However I hate being around when he's pooing lol, go figure!

MummyPig24 Fri 11-Jan-13 10:26:48

Wee - yes.
Poo - no!

When dp comes in from work he says "hello everybody, just got to go for a poo!" And disappears upstairs. Why does he still need to say it when we know it anyway?!

Feminine Fri 11-Jan-13 10:27:25

No, never have done (nearly 20 yrs) never will.

he (on the other hand) would do the lot in front of me....if I let him!

ThreeWheelsGood Fri 11-Jan-13 10:39:05

no. not even a wee. except one or two occasions when I was in labour (needed help sitting/standing!), that was the only time in seven years and certainly was exceptional circumstances!

BertieBotts Fri 11-Jan-13 10:40:52

Yep, I'm classy me grin

I'd rather not poo but I have on occasion when I thought it was just a wee and then started to poo as well blush I'm always apologetic! I run a mile if DP is pooing, XP used to shit when I was brushing my teeth -uuuuuuurgh. His "poo face" still haunts me sad

Reason for thinking wees are okay is we only have one bathroom and sometimes needs must.

Bosgrove Fri 11-Jan-13 10:59:31

I try not to, but both him and the kids follow me in....almost every time.

bedmonster Fri 11-Jan-13 11:12:30

Wee yes, NEVER a poo. Because a wee doesn't stink of, well, shit. And being honest, why would you really want to smell another grown humans shit? It's pretty unpleasant.
DP has a shower in the morning and I go in for a wee, and if im having a bath he comes in for a wee.
I don't even push the door closed when im having a wee, but for a poo I at least shove it so it's nearly closed!

PessaryPam Fri 11-Jan-13 11:18:25

Poo face Bertie, ROFL!!!

DH & I do pee in front of each other but I draw the line at pooing. I couldn't breath anywhere near DH having a shit, it's truly vile. I can't understand why he stinks so much more than I do when we eat the same food? And is greater quantity too. (Expect that is a clue, he is not fully digesting).

Pigsmummy Fri 11-Jan-13 11:25:02

No and I was a bit upset that after my DD the midwife put me, hubby and newborn into a big bathroom and I had to wee into a jug in front of my husband! It was grim.

MrsKeithRichards Fri 11-Jan-13 11:26:04

That reminds me Pam he put a pessary in for me last year, he knows down there better than I do!

hamdangle Fri 11-Jan-13 11:27:16

I can't beleive it's only OHs that announce their poo intentions! I always inform my DP and I fully intend to use 'feed the toilet' (thanks Fruitowl) as it's even better than 'dropping the kids off at the pool'.

After pregnancy, labour and childbirth, there isn't much mystery left in our relationship but DP still fancies the pants off me and it certainly hasn't been the kiss of death for romance. Saying that, on our first date I was nervous and got so drunk I was sick in front of him and farted at the same time! I was mortified and avoided him for weeks. When I saw him next he looked at me and I knew he still fancied me. I thought, 'this one's a keeper.'

hamdangle Fri 11-Jan-13 11:27:57

believe. doh!

pigletmania Fri 11-Jan-13 11:28:47

No some things should be kept private

MrsBungleBear Fri 11-Jan-13 11:30:19

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. We pee infront of each other. Don't tend to poo but wouldn't bother me.

No air of mystery between me and Dh!

Yep, once and only once in exceptional circumstances.

The day after I had DD1, I was still in hospital, in a proper state and needed his help to walk and have a bath (midwives disappeared), and then I needed the toilet (in same room), bleeding, stitched and scared I might split into two again <boak>.
