AIBU?

to think this shouldn't be advertised

Went to CSL to buy a seat, nothing overly fancy and there are huge signs everywhere advertising "72 hour delivery". I thought this was very good service and swayed me going in the store.
Went to order and he said it would be 12 weeks! I asked about the 72 hour thing and he said that was only if a person bought an item that was on display, so basically a clearance item! I'm sure there are T&C's but to advertise this so heavily when it only applies very rarely seems a bit misleading and rubbish.
I wouldn't feel so annoyed if the standard delivery was about 3-4 weeks but 12! One extreme to other!

That may be technically legal (I simply don't know) but even if so, it's certainly sharp practice. I'd drop an email to your local Trading Standards.

There is no way a furniture store could manufacture their goods in 72 hours and they don't keep large stocks as it is not cost effective so i am assuming it must have said somewhere it applied to sale items only.

YANBU. We went to look at sofas last week and were told 16-18 weeks! In other words, buy now, get it in April!

Unless you bought one of their ready made sets which they had bulk ordered in a fetching shade of "raspberry" i,e blood red.

I was amazed. it had never occurred to me that they make each one to order. they never tell you that on DFS sale ads!

No wonder they give you so long to pay. By the time you've paid for it with a 2 yr interest free credit scheme, it might be ready for delivery!

It's also £47.50 for delivery! And they know you HAVE to pay it as it's unlikely you have the means to take it home yourself!
