As played by Richard Armitage and Viggo Mortensen respectively.

I don't think Thorin would even be that much shorter than me grin

I've found the original designs for Thorin and company:
More true to the book, but it's understandable why they change it

Richard Armitage is HOT!

Welcome to our world, BBBS! grin

Blablablacksheep Fri 11-Jan-13 11:31:00

Hi ladies, i've just come back to ms after a long break.
Richard Armitage is HOT!
How could I've not noticed him earlier?

CastingNasturtiums Fri 11-Jan-13 11:12:19

I know hattie, I was all shock <drool> at those pictures side by side!

hattymattie Fri 11-Jan-13 09:44:30

OK ladies on Thorin Oakenshield's FB page - (which I have liked by the way). There is a photo of Thorin next to Boromir. I have to say Sean is just gorgeous yum yum - I want to blow that photo up poster size grin.

I luff the lady dwarves. They make me feel good about myself, their worthy queen.

PretzelTime Thu 10-Jan-13 22:47:13

Haha yes. He is so modern!

IwantaPetFox Thu 10-Jan-13 22:44:02

Sorry Pretzel, once I realised Thorin was on Facebook I had to read his entire page grin

AutumnMadness Thu 10-Jan-13 22:34:53

Iwanta, goodness me, I am thinking unholy thoughts about poor Fili and Kili now.

Pretzel, I rather like the dwarf ladies! Am pleasantly surprised. I wonder how much time they spend doing their hair. But this applies equally to the men. Except Thorin, of course, whose raven locks just fall about him so artfully in a fully natural way.

PretzelTime Thu 10-Jan-13 22:34:50

No comments on the ladee dwarves?

PretzelTime Thu 10-Jan-13 21:52:54

Check this out! Official dwarf women concepts! Unimpressive beards, but I like the fab one with blue lipstick.

IwantaPetFox Thu 10-Jan-13 21:34:06

And Autumn I'm pretty sure female dwarves have beards. I think you're the sexist one for assuming they were men. Maybe they were all females? Except Thorin, OBVIOUSLY.

IwantaPetFox Thu 10-Jan-13 21:31:29

Remus I am with you on Jack Sparrow and Russell Brand! Beautiful men smile

hattymattie Thu 10-Jan-13 19:57:54

ooh lady englefield I just read the thread properly and saw you were a kindred spirit in the Arthur of the Britons department. Can't believe we both wrote the same thing; grin

DoodlesNoodles Thu 10-Jan-13 19:39:08

Do I have to choose? sad

I suppose Aragorn wins but only just. hmm

PretzelTime Thu 10-Jan-13 19:38:40

I prefer captain Barbossa over Jack Sparrow...IDK why

SupermassiveLBD Thu 10-Jan-13 19:30:00

Ew, Cap'n Sparrow has a weird appeal but Russell Brand is taking the dirty hairy meme a touch too far.

AutumnMadness Thu 10-Jan-13 19:25:05

Good lord, Remus, what have you been smoking tonight?

Nobody has mentioned Raven yet, if we're talking of hairy and slightly dirty looking men. And of course, Jack Sparrow. Russell Brand anyone? smile

AutumnMadness Thu 10-Jan-13 19:23:32

Super, it's true! I read it on Wikipedia! (and in the massive appendices to the LofR, which I all read, but a long time ago).

AutumnMadness Thu 10-Jan-13 19:22:20

Yeah, but in my twisted mind, Tolkien did not make the dwarves and the rest of the Middle Earth + Valinor up. He just writes about them like a historian or an ethnographer. Sick, I know.

SupermassiveLBD Thu 10-Jan-13 19:21:20

The parody seriously rocks. Did anyone else hear Sir ian's voice in their head as they read it?

Talking of female dwarves, what are these Betty Butterbuttocks rumours, Mr A?

PretzelTime Thu 10-Jan-13 19:03:48

That's Tolkien's fault I think, not the dwarves...

AutumnMadness Thu 10-Jan-13 18:49:56

The only thing that worries me, ladies, is that the dwarves might be rather sexist. The annals of the dwarves mention only one woman - Dis - and only because she was Fili and Kili's mum. Hot but sexist . . .

TheSmallPrint Thu 10-Jan-13 18:19:55

grin grin grin grin grin @ the parody. Sniggering away here.
