Sorry for this christmas name, will change when I can be bothered. And it's not really aibu but i need help fast. Anyway...

Ds is 18 months and he sleeps with a little bear that he's had since he was tiny. He won't sleep without it, screams and will not settle. It's lost. I know it's in the house somewhere, I've torn it apart looking and cannot find it. I'm dreading tonight if it's still missing.

Where you come in - can you give me ideas of places he could have put it that I haven't thought of? It was last seen yesterday morning. I have literally checked everywhere.

Smelly bear where are you? We miss you and pray for your safe return!!!

When did you last see him with it? Try lying on the floor of his room - a different view has often turned up missing things in our house!

Down the side of the bed?
In the duvet / sheets
Retrace his steps!

Start with where you last saw the bear(ds's bed?) and thoroughly search the room leaving no bed/chair/sofa etc unturned and then extend the search to other rooms/hall/conservatory etc.

Unless your ds has a powerful thowing arm, Smelly is unlikely to be found clinging to a chandelier so concentrate on nooks/crannies/down sides of furniture etc which ds can easily access.

I would also suggest you involve ds in the hunt and dream up a reason why Smelly has decided to go into hiding, or has taken himself off to the North Pole to see his friends in the hope that this will minimise the effect of his absence tonight if he can't be found.

It's too dark now to search the garden but is there any chance Smelly has been thrown- fallen out of a window?

Thanks for all the suggestions, still no luck! Going to re trace the steps of ds yesterday. I'm hoping ds just appears with him. Wish me luck!

In the linen basket

In his wardrobe (or yours if he can get in there)

In his toy box

Under the sofa

Behind bookcases

In any bags lying around, your bag, his nappy bag that sort of thing

Inside his quilt cover or pillow case or under his sheet, maybe take of all the bedding and remake the bed.

Is it in the bottom of the buggy? Stuffed inside another toy? Behind the TV?

DD lost her bunny and it was found in my dressing gown pocket (DH sometimes wears my dressing gown and it wasn't me who popped bunny there!)

It was already missing when we last went out. Dp is checking the car (he's at work) but we don't really take it out incase we lose it. On the plus side, he's been at nursery all day and hasn't had a nap so hopefully he'll be tired enough to just fall asleep.

It's annoying me more because we have about 5 of pretty much the same thing as smelly but it's this one, and only this one, he'll settle with. It's one of those wee bears with the bit if cloth attached.

It's been found!! It was behind his ride on dinosaur. I SWEAR I had already checked everywhere in his bedroom. Ill be keeping my eye on the slippery wee bugger!
