Last year this fab thread appeared in AIBU: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1373827-to-ask-how-you-become-organised-and-together-Seriously-how?pg=1

I'm wondering if any of you managed to change your habits to become organised? I failed miserably but am determined to do it this year!

(I'm new so be kind if my link has gone wrong!)

I adopted the "keep all bills/important post in an envelope as they arrive for the month and then label an file the envelope tip" it's been brilliant, my kitchen isn't full of piles and piles of un-filed post anymore

I'm still working on it - house is still under renovation so only so much i can do. So far i have:

  • prepared and frozen meals. I do a big cook every 4 weeks or so, only cook from scratch on weekends which we enjoy.

+organised DS' room to within an inch of its life - everything has a place and his toys are all stored in new Ikea expedit

  • sorted, filed or binned all of our paperwork. Most is now paperfree

Bought loads of sealable plastic bags - all chargers / Alan keys etc are sealed and labelled.

Currently working through ALL of our clothes to bin / charity shop / ebay

Bags etc are always done the night before

I've cleared all my millions of emails

    Still lots to do!

Oh I'd forgotten about the labeling. I used a dynamo to label all plugs and chargers at the start of the year dh thought I was mad but it's prevented a lot of frustration.

Ooh - that sounds like a good toy! I would love to be completely organised. We bought this house when DS was just a dream away. It'll be lovely when it's finished but i do find it hard living in such a mess. DP is good at starting jobs and not finishing them so we have half finished rooms, we're living out of boxes / 2 cupboards in the kitchen etc. It's going to be another 3 years or so before we can afford to get it all cleared so we won't be organised properly till then. Sets my teeth on edge but nothin i can do except try to organise what space we do have!

Still dreaming of being anally organised - i guess that living with lots of our stuff still packed away 2 years down the line is making me realise that i don't need so much crap so that's good!
