I just rang to order the folks a takeaway for their friends (to pick up later) They want 4 Calzone.
Pizza express will not do calzone to take away.
Why? They haven't the right boxes.
They are cross, that's almost 45 pounds of food!!

Just order pizzas and gold them in half your self?

Sorry I only use local greasy take away so don't have this problem

Well that's what I said but they laughed at me Confused

But it makes sense. How do they not have the right boxes? A calzone would fit in a normal pizza box

Why can't it rattle around in a normal box for the duration of the journey? Seems a bit mad to me.

Apparently the box will 'make it go saggy' and they wouldn't accept my 25% off voucher as it was a take away.

I have to agree with them. A perfect Calzone rises when cooked and has a lovely burnt top, filled with hot steamy filling that shouldn't be flat enough to fit in a pizza box

Could they have taken thr lid off the pizza box and covered in foil?

Go and collect them yourself, take some plastic tubs with you (and ask them for a further discount for this trouble). Or try Zizzi.

I don't see why they can't just wrap the calzone in foil. That's what they do in the US.

I'd eat a saggy calzone if someone brought me one. I'm not fussy

I had to google calzone. Never heard of it. It looks like a pasty with a pizza filling.

It's a pizza folded in half then? Can you not do that yourself when it arrives? Grin

It is a pizza folded in half, I don't get it really I was only the pick up driver. Seems they are allowed it now, and I've been armed with tinfoil and Tupperware Wink

They used to deliver them, but they'd always be unedible. They'd explode all over the box, and you'd be left with scraps.

They stopped a while ago, and told us when we ordered that they wouldn't be delivering them anymore as they can't offer the same quality from the take-away side. The calzone is cooked on hotter for less time for take-away orders, and the quality is rubbish. They found they were offering too many refunds and getting too many complaints.

They might allow you to go and pick them up, if you want, but they won't offer a refund if they explode while you are transporting them.
