I'd cut it down to just the evening "feed to sleep" and had been continuing with that up to now (DD is 10 months). Thought i'd be relieved as I never really enjoyed it as such, but the tears are rolling down my face as I'm rocking her off to sleep without boob in mouth!

if you've changed your mind you don't have to stop.

it's also fine to feel sad if you still want to stop. <<hugs>>

Bless you!!

I can remember feeling like that, but it won't be long until you realise you still have plenty of other special things between you and your baby that make your bond strong.

Aww <hugs> well done on getting to 10 months! Wish I could say something more but I'm not yet there with DS2 and I dread it

ValiumQueen Tue 01-Jan-13 19:23:32

YANBU as I think most mums do the same. You will both survive though.

What nickel said smile

Aww, if you're really not happy you can always carry on though. And stopping isn't hurting her at all either.

I sobbed when I finished feeding DD at 27 months and by then I was truly truly ready to stop!

MixedClassBaby Tue 01-Jan-13 19:31:37

I was the same when I stopped bf DD2. I really got quite low for a week or so afterwards. Still, it was good to see the back of breastpads and leakage and to get nice bras out again once my breast returned to 'normal'.

Thankyou for the hugs & kind words <starts sobbing again>! I'm quite an ancient first time mum & hoping to start TTC for DC2 so need to stop BF to have half a chance at this.

Well done on getting to 10 months!

P.S. don't forget to buy a Savoy cabbage tomorrow to stick in the fridge.

You don't have to stop. It is possible to conceive whilst bf (looks pointedly at 3 of 5 children....all planned). Do this because you are both ready...and hugs to you.

McNewPants2013 Tue 01-Jan-13 19:36:18

wear a sport bra, it will support you better than a noraml bra.

well done for going 10 months

Part of the weepiness will be hormones - I went all a bit insane-PMTish when I stopped with DC4.

HongKongPooey Tue 01-Jan-13 19:44:49

<digs out sports bra from back of drawer>

<puts cabbage on tomorrow's shopping list>

Yes, stuff, I had heard it was possible! I don't know if it could happen for everyone like that? I need to maximise chances at my age!!

IneedAsockamnesty Tue 01-Jan-13 19:46:30

You can change your mind if you want. And as the others have said cabbage.

stuffthenonsense Tue 01-Jan-13 19:48:47

Don't know how old you are but dc5 (9 months) was conceived when I was 38 and feeding a 1 yr old 5+ times a day. No, it doesn't happen for all but it is possible. Has AFadr a return? That's the crucial factor....thee is actually a TTc whilst breastfeeding thread here on MN Loads of support there.

Dear me. Sorry for typos. One handed on phone in the dark.

I got pregnant when bf dd. old time mum too at 38ish

ds fed til 2.5 decided that he was not going to have any more... changed his mind 2 days later and fed and fed and fed... cue boobs going back into production big time... the next day when they were engorged he took one look at them spat on them and ignored them while I moaned... ouch...

HongKongPooey Tue 01-Jan-13 19:54:28

Thankyou, stuff, i'll check out that thread! AF not arrived, hence thought that stopping would start it iyswim. I'll be 40 in a couple of months <slight panic>.
