I'd cut it down to just the evening "feed to sleep" and had been continuing with that up to now (DD is 10 months). Thought i'd be relieved as I never really enjoyed it as such, but the tears are rolling down my face as I'm rocking her off to sleep without boob in mouth!

if you've changed your mind you don't have to stop.

it's also fine to feel sad if you still want to stop.

Bless you!!

I can remember feeling like that, but it won't be long until you realise you still have plenty of other special things between you and your baby that make your bond strong.

Aww well done on getting to 10 months! Wish I could say something more but I'm not yet there with DS2 and I dread it

YANBU as I think most mums do the same. You will both survive though.

Aww, if you're really not happy you can always carry on though. And stopping isn't hurting her at all either.

I sobbed when I finished feeding DD at 27 months and by then I was truly truly ready to stop!

I was the same when I stopped bf DD2. I really got quite low for a week or so afterwards. Still, it was good to see the back of breastpads and leakage and to get nice bras out again once my breast returned to 'normal'.

Thankyou for the hugs & kind words ! I'm quite an ancient first time mum & hoping to start TTC for DC2 so need to stop BF to have half a chance at this.

You don't have to stop. It is possible to conceive whilst bf (looks pointedly at 3 of 5 children....all planned). Do this because you are both ready...and hugs to you.

wear a sport bra, it will support you better than a noraml bra.

well done for going 10 months

Part of the weepiness will be hormones - I went all a bit insane-PMTish when I stopped with DC4.

You can change your mind if you want. And as the others have said cabbage.

Don't know how old you are but dc5 (9 months) was conceived when I was 38 and feeding a 1 yr old 5+ times a day. No, it doesn't happen for all but it is possible. Has AFadr a return? That's the crucial factor....thee is actually a TTc whilst breastfeeding thread here on MN Loads of support there.

I cried, so much that baby was wet! I have a (very tasteful, not revealing) photo of the last time that I took from eye level, but I haven't looked back to be honest, our bond is as, if not stronger than before as we get to know each other with every passing day and baby is truly thriving. You have to stop at some point (Bitty!) if now is the time then be less hard on yourself x
