DH's family were surprised that we ate our Christmas dinner in the evening. I don't know why. It is dinner! We could have eaten it at ten and it still would've been fine.

Breakfast lunch and dinner but that goes on time not on how heavy the meal is

We had Christmas lunch at 3.00pm it was lunch as we hadn't eaten .

It becomes dinner if we've eaten lunch

breakfast, lunch, dinner. it's not about what you eat it's about what time of day it is. so i could eat roast turkey at 8am and it would still be my breakfast.

Anyway, to us it's dinner because we eat it at dinner time ie 7pm. Never understood people who eat it bizarrely early in the day.

Christmas Dinner here, even though we ate it at 3pm, not a meal time for anything.

Breakfast, dinner, supper here when I am feeling posh and the middle meal is the big meal of the day.

So likewise, breakfast, lunch, dinner when lunch is just light - e.g. Sandwiches...

Ergo - dinner - 'big' meal of the day regardless of time consumed.

We had ours at about 6pm.
That's when I always eat. I couldn't manage it at lunch time, I never eat lunch.
Each to there own though.

Yup, it's Christmas dinner here too. We're having another Christmas dinner tomorrow with family at 2pm, we still won't be calling it lunch Smile

breakfast, lunch then dinner unless we're having dinner at lunch and then it's tea at dinner time.

Well, we had a buffet lunch, then Christmas dinner. If we had eaten the cooked meal at lunch time, then obviously it would have been dinner (served hot).
