DH didn't wake me when the kids got up do they've opened all of their presents without me being there.

I shopped for them, paid for them, wrapped them and stuck them on the end of their beds.

He did fuck all apart from enjoying watching them open them and right now I hate his fucking guts. Very unseasonable I know, but I'm too upset to care.

I would be furious. What was his reason?

That's awful, YANBU. Very thoughtless of him. But park it for the rest of the day, try to enjoy the day and think of suitable punishments as you go!

Oh no, I would be fuming to!

We always have the rule "no presents until everyone is up"

YANBU! Ridiculous and rude!

as an aside do people's kids honestly wake up and have their presents this early? My dcs haven't stirred yet!

Maybe he appreciated all of your hard work and thought wrongly that he was being a good husband to let you have a lie-in?

Sorry you missed the present unwrapping. But try not to let it ruin your day!

YANBU. We have always had a rule that everyone has to be up before gifts are opened.

I would be furious too. As Laura says, try not to let it ruin your day. But that's a big ask.

My kids are still asleep. We are up waiting for them.

Yanbu that is really twatish.

Did he think he was doing you a favour by letting you sleep in?

Report
HollyBerryBush · 25/12/2012 06:39

Are your children very small?

We never allowed present opening until the last person is up.

Report
BoysAndGhouls · 25/12/2012 06:39

Sad why would he do that! Poor you, still waiting for mine to wake up.

Report
KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 25/12/2012 06:41

Gutted is the right word. I'm in the sodding bathroom crying at the mo so I can compose myself and not upset the children.

Apart from the one present for me, I've bought everything else, including the stuff for dsd. He did fuck all other than enjoy the outcome. I just can't get over how he didn't think that it would be a problem.

I'm waffling, but I'm really, really upset.

Yanbu I'm in work until 8 and I've told dp to lock the sitting room so I can come home to see them open their gifts. I would be so upset if he didn't,

Yanbu but you really WILL have to get over it or the DC will have their memories spoiled by you sobbing. Move on past it. Have a lovely day and play with the DC and the toys. Make DH cook breakfast.

YANBU

Stockings are for opening right away, but wrapped gifts have to wait till everyone is up.

Make it very, very clear that this must never happen again, start on the Bucks Fizz and tell them if he would like to do it all he can cook lunch. Then, enjoy the day. Insensitive in the extreme. Wonder if this level thoughtlessness is usual.
