more of a wwyd - morning after pill?

Ok silly I know but had drunken unprotected sex with DH last night. I'm 43 and dont want any more kids.

According to my calculation I'm on day 22 of cycle, earliest I could be is day 20.

Do I hot foot it to the chemist for the pill or accept the fact that chances of conception are too loeto worry about? Didn't get pregnant easily either time anyway.

Going and getting pill would be a logistical problem and involve lying to my mother!!

So wwyd?

Bit risky. You never know your 'luck' so get the MAP.

.... tricky. If you don't get the MAP, are you going to spend the next 6 - 8 days worrying?

There must be something from the chemist or a shop close to it that you can think of that your mum would find it plausible you need to pop out to get? I take it that coming clean to your mum is just too squirm inducing to contemplate?

Go and get it. Otherwise you'll be thinking about it for the next week. Yes it's unlikely, but not impossible.

I know everyone will say YES! But I probably wouldn't bother. I only ever conceived bang on ovulation day myself. If you have a regular 28 day cycle you should be ok. I also took it and was pregnant anyway, again bang on ovulation day.

This happened to some friends of mine this summer. Cue a 45 year old woman and her 52 year old husband looking sheepish in Boots the next day! They did go and get it, mind, better safe than sorry. Imagine yourself in 9 months time with another child...and then go and do the right thing, ou know it makes sense! Don't worry about mother. What's wrong with 'I need to pick up a prescription I'll see you later'.

I would be mindful that it might not work anyway! It didn't for me :-O

Bloody he'll, you're 43 not 13! Just tell your mum you need to pick something up from the chemist's. If she asks what, tell her to mind her own business you'd rather not say. How difficult can it be? Less difficult than a baby you didn't plan to have would be my guess.

If you don't want another child you want to get the pill as soon as possible - they aren't really 'morning after' pills - they are 'as soon as you can' pills, the efficiency decreases over time.

I've taken a cab to an all-night chemist after a condom split whilst still feeling the after-glow. Took the thing at the counter with OH holding my hand... I think the shop assistants thought it quite romantic actually :-)

Otherwise IUDs can be fitted a day or so later (but work less well) and abortions come in various forms very early, some of which you might find less traumatic than others.

Or you could decide you both knew what you were doing so maybe did want another baby?

I conceived DD1 the day my period ended, so do not believe any of this about only being able to conceive on certain days. ]

Lie to your mum if need be Hmm

Get yourself the MAP.

If you don't want any more children then go and get it and make up some excuse for your Mum. We "got carried away" but decided to go with it since we were planning to TTC later on in the year and also thought that since I'm older the chance of getting pregnant would be remote - baby is due in a few weeks!

Nothing wrong with getting the MAP pill if you don't want any more children. No idea why you would need to lie to your mum unless she works at the place where you're going to get the pill.

I'm 32 with fertility warranting Ivf and I somehow managed to conceive naturally on the day before my period!!! No joke! And dh has a low sperm count! We were on the waiting list for ivf!

So never assume anything! Map for you!

Ds is now 6 months :)
