AIBU?

IWBU to leave DH over a Pret a Manger Sandwich, wouldn't I?

DH was on child feeding duty today, now I am not PFB about the DCs having shop bought sandwiches and so on, what annoyed me was that we have a fridge (and several cupboards) full of food, and yet he still took them out. I would have minded less if they had had something particularly interesting that would have been difficult for DH to make, or hot at least, but no, it was an effing cheese and pickle baguette! Hmm I just can't believe he would be so wasteful of our money so close to Christmas.

Presumably he didn't just pile the kids into the car to drive to Pret and buy a sandwich. What else was he doing with the kids which meant they were out at lunchtime?

Yabu.

If it was his turn then it's not your job to tell him what he had to feed his own children.

No, he didn't use the car, but they weren't out either they walked back home to eat them, just brought them on the way home.

Outraged, normally I would agree, but we are not called Rockerfeller and I just think it is a huge waste of money.

Hmmm... YABU. This is a minor annoyance tbh, not something to get het up about.

Leaving him might be a slight overreaction to a Sandwich Incident OP.

Unless you are Ross Geller?

I live somewhere with no Pret. I would kill kittens to get my hands on a Pret sandwich. I will marry your DH if you don't want him. He obviously values Pret and might buy me some. LTB.

I would only be annoyed if he hadn't bought one for me.

You think it's a huge waste of money, but clearly he thinks its fine. And as it's his money too, you don't get the final say.

I take your point Montage, it just drives me Angry when I have shopped, and shop carefully so as to save money. Grin

Mrs Terry, I have CD, so can't eat their sandwiches so perhaps I don't know what I'm missing.

Outraged, after 8 years, I think he's just lazy! Wink but so blinkin' attractive.

At least it wasn't a Gregg's sandwich ;)

Honestly, what is done is done. It's lazy if he went out solely to get the sandwich but at least it's a good quality one and if he had been shopping and feeling peckish then he picked a healthy choice (my kids would have wanted a McDonalds)

Meh... if DP did this is wouldn't even bloody register with me..

Now, eating all the food I've carefully meal-planned and bought as fucking snacks..

You can't eat Pret Xmas Sad. YADNBU in that case. You DH is a thoughtless monster for rubbing this fact in your face.

That's true, crazy. Am trying to convince myself that he was out shopping buying me a gorgeous Christmas present Grin

I shop carefully to save money - so it can be spent on things like the convenience of buying a sandwich when coming home (not that I ever would from pret)

Yabu.
I get where you're coming from re having lots of food in the house already, but he's an adult too and it's his choice what to do about lunch on his watch. Do you think you're being a bit of a control freak?

Unless, you are really in the bread-line, and that £2.50 was to feed the whole family dinner or something. In which case, YANBU

Mrs Terry, maybe we should start a campaign for a Pret in your area and GF sandwiches Xmas Grin

I actually seriously considered a franchise, then found out that they didn't do that. Xmas Angry. They did have breadless sandwiches last time I was in but they may not be GF of course. If I open one, I shall make you something GF on the first day, before the bread has tainted everything. Xmas Grin

I wish they'd open a Pret in Dublin. I love Pret :(

Don't they do some nice salads and call them breadless sandwiches? Make him buy you one!

Unless you're as poor as church mice, I think you're being a leeetle bit U.

I quite often get into my car and drive 2 miles to M&S to buy my lunch, despite a bulging fridge. I just cba to make anything.

I know what you mean - I make a point of not buying sandwiches I could make at home and CHEESE AND PICKLE is at the top of that list!
They do make the scrummiest of sandwiches though :)

My DH always does this if i leave him in charge of the children and a fridge full of food

I get a tad cross too. I shop really carefully on food to save money and do wonder why i bother sometimes Hmm
