Is your delivery meant to be in the morning? I think there are different time slots, we get post at about half 9 and at 5, in my old house it came at 12.30 every day.

My postman just came, I answered the door holding my baby and he said 'let me in it's cold' and walked right through my kitchen to my living room to get me to sign... I was a bit confused seeming I've never seen him before. Don't think I minded, I just thought it was odd. Anyway, my post always seems to comes at different times, anytime from midday on. Sucks when you're waiting in for something!

I have no idea what time the postman comes. Some time between 7.20am and 6.15pm.

Think of it as tomorrows post that has come early.

My DH works for Royal Mail, and has been starting at 04.00am since October. 6 days a week. They carry an Illegal weight of mail, so they dont have to keep walking back to the office for the next bag.

He gets home at 18.30pm. Shower, eat & in bed by 20.30pm. Up at 03.15am.

I know its his choice to do overtime as we are trying to save for a deposit, but they only do as the managers ask.

He gets shouted & sworn at by customers, bitten by dogs and gets soaked in this weather.

When work asked him to do 2 hours on Sunday, he said no.

They do try.

I dont care what time my post arrives as long as i get it. I have seen posties doing the area around my DDs school and then doing my area. That is a good 500-600 houses.

I could not b a postie. They are so overworked and ill treated.

How weird to think you should get it am Confused. Where did you get that from ?

They deliver post up to 5.30 round here, someone has to be last. I'd be dead grateful if they didn't deliver to me til 5.30 as I'd definitely be here then.

Our postman was very late today, but I saw another friend of mine, a positive, delivering letters as I drove home from school pick up at 3.15. He is normally finished in the village soon after lunch.

Must be a very slow day for them, feel very sorry for them.

Plus I doubt he's late for any reason other than he's doing his job. Although it sucks if you miss stuff or you have to wait for stuff it cant be helped, I guess it's just the route he has to take. I do feel sorry for them this time of year... brrrrr! Xmas Sad

People think it should come in the morning because back in the day when we got two deliveries it did!

Our postman is really nice - always cheery and helpful. I think it's royal mail that sucks.

We always ALWAYS had our deliveries between 10 and 11 in the morning, and always the same lovely postman.

Since he left/retired/switched areas? God knows what happened to him, its all gone a bit haywire. Postie often changes as does the time they come. Often its still morning but sometimes its 3-4 afternoon. I order a lot of online stuff so its a bit irritating not knowing around about when they will deliver.

They should set a time and stick too it for that area so people know where they are at.

santawearsgreen - yabvu - no-one can promise you a time :-\ poor posties with people like you & op on their backs. you must be very important people with very imporant mail to worry about such silly things in life, bless you both lol :-)

They can hardly set a time and stick to it! How do they account for covering for sickness/absence, inclement weather, traffic difficulties, etc?

I think so long as they come sometime before 5.30 then it is fine, and at this time of year, you have to expect a bit of disruption.

We've got a lovely postie, she always smiles and waves when she sees us. If she misses me she will usually sign for the package and put it in the shed! She must be made of stronger stuff than I, she was doing her rounds in shorts this morning when there was snow on the ground!

Truebloodfan get a grip, im not crying into my cornflakes when he doesnt show up, and how does me sayin i thought they were supposed to come in the morning mean im a very important person?

And as for "being on his back all the time" how do you figure that one? Have i said anywhere that i have words with him about it?? I dont even speak to him coz im never in when he gets here.

santa same thing happened to us. We had a regular postie who moved to another round years ago. Since then it has been different posties every day and I think they all do the round differently - as the post arrives much earlier on some days than others. It's usually here by around lunchtime though but has been as late as 3pm. I know they are out delivering at 8.30 as I have seen them on the main road when I have gone out in the morning - before they come into our village.

Last Friday my delivery was 6.15pm. I know the exact time as although I was out a red card was left with the time on. It did helpfully say I could collect on Saturday rather than the usual 2 hours later Grin
