I think a thread about the hoax just got pulled so this might too.

I feel sorry for everyone involved. It is just horrible.

I bet they aren't feeling terrible, OP. Just more publicity for them.

It is sooooo sad - she must have been under an enormous amount of pressure.

Sad how awful, poor poor woman.

BBC website she was found dead, so unclear if it was suicide.

How terrible, for the nurse and the DJs who would never have intended this as the consequence if their prank. This will cast a shadow over the pregnancy too.

Well, even if she did kill herself, she must have had other problems that were more severe than falling for a harmless prank call. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she's alive and well and this is some sort of deranged conspirracy theory bullshit.

Just read it, so awful Sad poor poor woman.

I hope the DJs seriously suffer for that stunt, regardless of this poor woman's death, it was a dirty trick.

RIP Jacintha

And I agree she must have had other problems going on, poor woman

I think that this is a nurse helping on reception who transferred the call-not the one who gave out details.

Ahh.......if so perhaps the call is not the reason and the media is just making a lot out of the link

Christ, I hope you're right SGB.

What a shite thing to happen.

It wasn't a prank. It was bullying.
They must have known that it would cause trouble for whoever accepted the call. As it was the hospital didn't discipline her but she clearly felt bad about it.

So desperately sad. Mother of two small children.

Oh that is awful.

And as for saying that won't be the only reason - well I'm not sure. I mean, it's not as if the ordinary layman is used to being splashed across worldwide media etc. And if she had no support in place to help her deal with it then maybe she felt really isolated and alone.

So Sad

Poor bloody woman - a well respected and well liked nurse, according to the BBC. I hope those DJs feel like the utter shits they are.

So sad and avoidable, The radio station obviously didn't learnt from its last sick ratings puller. Very sad the poor lady obviously took the full brunt of the guilt when in reality, the radio station and senior hospital management were responsible for this

HassledHasASledge · 07/12/2012 16:19

And yes, she may well have had existing problems which would have made her less resilient to being portrayed as a gullible fool across the world's media than some - but the DJs wouldn't have given a flying fuck about that. They knew nothing about her - but were happy to use her for their own entertainment.

This is the reason not to be a twat. You never know what people have going on and how it may affect them. All for a "prank".

this has really upset me

she had 2 children

what a fucking WASTE

and I bet kate feels like shit too, and it clearly not her fault

BattlingFanjos · 07/12/2012 16:29

I agree Happy...if you can't anything nice and all that, very sad. People are ignorant when they do things like this but I'm not surprised after their last shitty stunt as wishful said.

This is really sad. Poor woman, and her poor family. :(

It may well be that there were other issues going on for her, but I can well believe that the hoax call may have tipped her over the edge. I bet the hoax callers will feel shit about what has happened, and so they should - they couldn't have predicted this, obviously, but it doesn't take a genius to realise that they could have for someone into big trouble. Not to mention the breach of Kate's privacy.

What a tragic waste of a life. :(
