and it is too hot and of course worse when you get out. surely, particularly as the dc's arent babies, they are all teens, it is more realistic to ahve coats on in the car and the heating turned down,
what do you do ?

Coat, heating, seat warmer and steering wheel warmer.

Snap.

Mine says why put your coats on? Im Hmm then remember he blasts hot air out. It makes my eyeballs dry and throat itch.

I like being wrapped up and having cool (but not cold) air coming through to keep the windows clear.

Most of the time we're in my car so I win.

Heating, no coats. They are bulky and interfere with my driving.

I can't wear a coat in the car, especially if driving - it's just sends me mad, too bulky.

However I hate being in a stuffy overly warm space so very rarely have the heating on either aside from taking the edge off first thing in the morning.

Doesn't answer your question though!! Your approach seems the more logical of the two though so will plump for YANBU

No coat, hate them when driving. I'm with 44So on the timings for kids.

Heating and minimal outdoor clothing - I hate wearing constricting stuff when I drive and I've yet to find a coat that doesn't drive (ha!) me up the wall within the first half a mile.

Depends how long I'm in the car-half an hour I'd do both, over that just the heaters.

I hate driving with a coat on. I sit on it and it tugs down and it's bulky and annoying.

Warm car up first Grin

Drive without coat with heating on, put coat on when getting out.

And I wear leather driving gloves in the winter...

I like my car to be boiling hot - love hot feet. Will keep coat on as well

If I wear a coat in the car then the coat doesn't keep me warm when I get out. Iyswim.
But I don't have the heating on full blast either. It's on just high enough to keep the chill out of the air.

I usually put my coat on and then get in the car and go. I'd rather not put the heating on full blast and put extra strain on the engine and fuel efficiency. I only put it right up when I want to demist the windscreen.

Tell your dh I said so.

But then again my coat that I wear all the time is my shooting coat which is hip length and has long sleeves and high arms for the reach and so is easy to drive in. I appreciate that wont apply to everyone. Grin

I hate driving in my coat and I hate a hot car - particularly loathe hot air near my face. If DP has ever used 'my' car I have to immediately turn down the heat and re-direct the fans.

No coat for me too, so uncomfortable when I'm driving. Heater on and window slightly open.

I drive with coat and cool air.

But when I occasionally go for no coat and warm air it is wonderfully luxurious! Waste of energy though....but nice

I never drive in my coat and have the heating on instead. I think a coat restricts my movement and that can't be a good thing when driving.
