It's the zombies on the 20th you should be worried about

Just pop a few gallons of bottled water under the stairs, put clean knickers and sensible shoes on, and keep calm. It'll be fine, and let's face it, the days after the End of the World are always much more interesting than the ones before it...

The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world. It was when their calendar ended. They did plan their calander for more than several thousand years. Why would anyone.
Its the end of an era and the beginning of the age of enlightenment.

Also where is the 2013 calendar I brought last week?
It's totally disappeared
Is it a sign?

They didn't plan their calendar.

If everyone was so worried they wouldn't be putting up Christmas decorations and buying presents. Don't worry too much about it

I hope it ends as I haven't even started Xmas shopping so it would be a big help tbh

Ok, in all seriousness, I got a teeny bit stressed about this earlier in the year. and it was all the fault of mumsnet too Grin And I blamed it on new baby hormones on top. I felt really stupid when I admitted it to DH as well when he asked what was going on! Blush

He looked into the Mayan thing for me.

Apparently, the reason their calendars stop at this point is because they are based on geographical formations (i.e. hills) and they didn't have a higher hill to make a longer calendar. I realise I am simplifying this hugely.

It's kind of like the end of a millenium, rather than the end of the world. So don't worry too much. Smile

Tell me about the fab things you have got planned for Christmas and 2013. Smile

(And I went round hiding threads like this because I didn't want to talk about it - it excacerbated my anxiety. I almost hid this one!)

You don't need to be terrified about that.

Try North Korea ' testing' a rocket...

I don't mind if it's a asteroid or something quick.

I've heard theories that interpret it as more that 2012 will be the end of the world 'as we know it' and that 2013 will herald the beginning of a new world order, that it will be tough during the transition but worth it in the end (where do I read shit like this?).

They were talking about the end of our current eay of thinking not about the world going caput. Enjoy life, if the world really ends we won't be around to suffer for it Wink

What if the end of the world as we know means Peter Andre and Alex Reid are going to get their own channels??

butter do you know my mil?

we have been bombarded with books and info. She tried to get me to teach my 20 month old son to meditate as to develops his indigo child skills.

The books are quite interesting. Especially the ones that connect the Mayans to Atlantic and Egypt.
Its a nice bedtien story.

But yes its a new era and life will Beyer after the transition. Mil thinks Obama will play a big role, but not Dave Cameron or cleggy.

There have been countless predictions of the date that the world will end and somehow we're still here. Wasn't there another date earlier this year, or did I imagine that? Apparently the Mayans didn't even predict the end of the world and their calendar doesn't actually end, it's more like a new millennium. The myth has been perpetuated by a rather daft film.
So yes I think yabu.
