Is this strange or is it just me?

And is it weird that they have a doctor AND a vet? But they are all animals?

My brain can't take it smile

I don't watch Peppa Pig (my dc are grown) but have read of a gorilla called Koko, who had a series of pet cats.

ValiumQueen Sun 25-Nov-12 16:44:07

Not as weird as the fact they wear clothes, can talk and live in a house etc. I must admit I was surprised to see a vet.

AnnaFender Sun 25-Nov-12 17:39:43

Not nearly as weird as Mickey Mouse who has a dog for a friend (Goofy) and a dog for a pet (Pluto). Wtf is that about?

putonyourredshoes Sun 25-Nov-12 17:46:33

is Goofy a dog??

BionicEmu Sun 25-Nov-12 17:49:39

I think it's weirder that an elephant is the same size as a cat.

I gave up thinking about it long ago, none of it makes any sense, but DS enjoys it!

and none of the male characters wear trousers - just sleeveless and legless body suits.

and father Christmas is human.

maddening Sun 25-Nov-12 17:52:39

ps the vet is one of the best characters

It is odd how the animals we would regard as pets can either talk, live in houses and drive cars like the cats and dogs in the programme but tortoises and goldfish are clearly marked out as being pets for those animals. How did they decide which were which? Mammals can have houses but other animals are pets?

McChristmasPants2012 Sun 25-Nov-12 17:53:01

the mummy firestation left me confused.

why did they put out the fire on the BBQ ???? and how many jobs does miss rabbit have

McChristmasPants2012 Sun 25-Nov-12 17:54:06

and why is she Miss rabbit when there is a Mr rabbit, would it not be Ms rabbit

leftangle Sun 25-Nov-12 17:54:57

The characters are all mammals, none of the pets are (so perfectly plausible).
hth smile

Goofy is a cow. His love interest is Clara-bell, and his teeth are rounded like a herbivore. Looking back at the history he originated in Scotland and is a hornless cow, but he was altered to look more dog like.

ValiumQueen Sun 25-Nov-12 17:56:49

There is miss rabbit and mrs rabbit. They are sisters. Miss rabbit is too busy doing every job there is to have babies.

leftangle Sun 25-Nov-12 17:57:18

Don't think Miss Rabbit has time for a partner. Mummy Rabbit is married to Mr Rabbit and Miss Rabbit is her sister (ref: Mummy Rabbit's bump or Miss Rabbit's day off).
I need to get out more.

Watto1 Sun 25-Nov-12 18:00:01

Mummy Rabbit is married to Mr Rabbit and Miss Rabbit is Mummy Rabbit's sister. This confuses DD no end - "Why are there two Miss Rabbits Mummy?"

Also, it's nice that Mummy Cow kept her maiden name when she married Mr Bull!

Can't believe I know all this blush

McChristmasPants2012 Sun 25-Nov-12 18:02:14

that explains so much <needs to get out more>

YeahBuddy Sun 25-Nov-12 18:05:41

I love the vet - "you're a tortoise!" grin

Why do all the males only wear bodysuit type things with no trousers and shoes and why is George called 'George'? Shouldn't he be Peter Pig? Same with Chloe Pig, should she not be Penny Pig or... Something??

<Too much time on hands emoticon>

Strawhatpirate Sun 25-Nov-12 18:07:40

Has anyone ever seen them eat meat or even refer to eating it? If so where does that come from?

starfishmummy Sun 25-Nov-12 18:19:47

And i see pigs driving cars everyday............

GoldPlatedNineDoors Sun 25-Nov-12 18:21:52

Also, on Peppa Pig - all the dc have alliterative names except for George. Poor little poppet.

Babybeargrylls Sun 25-Nov-12 18:23:29

I puzzled over how old Madame Gazelle was last week... She taught all the mummies and daddies but before that she was in a rock band.

Too much time on my hands ...

steben Sun 25-Nov-12 18:30:22

goldplated include Chloe pig on that anomaly as well!

Also why do the rabbit family live in a warren but other characters live in houses - eg why don't Peppa and co live in a sty?

And don't get me started on mr potato....

Cantbelieveitsnotbutter Sun 25-Nov-12 18:36:03

I want a stick insect called Stephen

GoldPlatedNineDoors Sun 25-Nov-12 18:36:45

Of course <slaps head> Chloe too - mayeb George and Chole are the milkman's kids.

I do think there is something going on between Miss Rabbit and Daddy Pig - possibly they used to go out before he met Mummy Pig.

Love the word play of Mme Gazelle grin
