Did some shopping earlier in tesco as have a voucher for some money off and will get another voucher plus another in my book. Was very careful , as I have to be, so know exactly how much everything had cost. And when on my way out the door looking at the receipt I realized one of the offers hadn't been taken off. Well I look at the customer service queue and as no one is waiting decide for once to go and get my money back.

Explain to the nice lady (she must be new) and she goes off to call someone to check. Another Custoner services chap talks to me )think he's new too) very nice. So she comes back and basically one of the two things wasn't in the offer so I've got it wrong. The chap interrupts and she cuts him off and basically they give me the difference from the offer back in cash [ shock]

So I've got it wrong and they refund me anyway. Is this a new tactic from tesco? Is it the new staff? What's going on?

No I do not work for them grin

I've had a few problems with Tesco recently, but this week I ordered a bottle of wine in with my delivery . When it arrived it still had the security cap on. I rang them up and they immediately sent a £10 E coupon ( it arrived in my Email account within minutes of my phone call ). Also after a lot of manhandling my DH managed to wrestle the security cap off with the wine remaining intact, so we were happy !

Tesco are rubbish and the amounts they rip you off for do not make up for the amounts they pay back for their errors...especially when they make errors on their insurance!!! Grrrrr!

So sorry RyledUp x

quirrelquarrel Sun 25-Nov-12 10:26:26

Mumof, I'm curious, how can supermarkets be so bad? I on shelves, pay at the end.....weird how there can be such differences!

DragonMamma Sun 25-Nov-12 09:54:56

I bought a carrypack of nappies from there recently, they were crap and leaked everywhere so I emailed them and was given a £15 gift card. Not bad.

splashymcsplash Sun 25-Nov-12 07:44:49

Ryledup that is horrific. Really sorry to hear that.

splashymcsplash Sun 25-Nov-12 07:42:06

Op do you work for tesco?? wink

I found meat in my tinned tomatoes. Despite telling them I was vegetarian, had to waste a large amount of found, and taking it up with trading standards they only gave me a £10 voucher. Didn't even cover the food wasted, let alone to hours on the phone to their unhelpful customer services.

In summary: Tesco customer services are shite.

and after me apologising and them laughing at me they gave me a £40 voucher card!! I was really surprised.

I like that! grin

I love Tesco. And to be honest as annoying as it is I'm not sure their sick policy is any different to any other company out there. Hardly anywhere pays sick pay now. I have a friend who works for Tesco and they have been quite understanding about her needing time off sick recently. I think it is as much down to different managers as anything else or as in any other company. Maybe seeing as they dominate the market their sickness policy should be more sympathetic I suppose, trying to be fair.

I've been in before ranting and raving like an idiot because I thought some meat I'd brought home was a week out of date and actually I had my dates wrong (I was under a lot of pressure with illness in the family) and after me apologising and them laughing at me they gave me a £40 voucher card!! I was really surprised.

If anyone from Tesco is on this thread please increase the amount of two seater trolleys! With two wriggling toddlers I don't want to wait 25 minutes for a trolley supervisor to tell me that he can't find any. I went elsewhere that day.

When I first moved to Australia, I came home from the supermarket in tears once or twice as I found the experience hideous. Every time I go shopping I sigh and mention how much I miss UK supermarkets. I wish I had a tesco near me.
I took my MIL into Waitrose and a tesco superstore when they came to the UK for the UK part of our wedding. She admitted afterwards that she now understands my position on crappy Aussie shops!

rhondajean Sun 25-Nov-12 02:32:35

Yes they thought mil was haivng a heart attack, put her on thenhospitwol bus,

RyleDup Sun 25-Nov-12 02:21:14

I hate tescos. For people that work for them, their sickness policy is shite. They pay the minimum they can get away with, and they put pressure on them to get back to work asap.
My friend used to work for tescos. She was really ill, although the doctors and consultants couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong with her.
Tescos offered no sympathy to her situation, payed her the minimum they could get away with as sick pay, she had bills to pay and forced herself back to work after a couple of weeks, as she was being paid no sick pay, nothing.
She drove back one night from that shitty store a few weeks ago, blacked out at the wheel, crashed her car and died.
Excuse me for not feeling the love here.

Tiddleys has just made me cry! grin

I love Tesco...I really really do and I know we're supposed to hate them but I don't... grin

rhondajean Sun 25-Nov-12 02:00:39

This time last year my car broke down in their car park - it was late at night, I had my Reflux-y screaming baby and my American cousin in the car as we'd just left Hospital visiting our dying Grannie, and had popped in for snacks to keep up going on the drive home.
The lovely lovely young manager and one of his v helpful staff tried to push-start us along several lengths of the car park, gave us a free petrol can so I could add more fuel (sadly that wasn't the prob), and then opened the closed cafe so we could wait in the warm for my mum to come pick us up! And they made us tea too. smile I was deep in PND and family trauma and never sent him a thank you note.

Thank you Tesco man. thanks

I left my phone in two different Tesco's within a month (because I am old and menopausal) and they were fantastic both times... Much relief....

WorraLiberty Sat 24-Nov-12 23:14:12

Oh I've thought of one annoying thing about Tesco.

When you unload all your shopping onto the conveyor belt and the cashier can clearly see you're empty handed...but asks "Do you need a bag"?

Errr no as it's such a lovely day, I was thinking of cramming all my shopping up my arse and strolling home in the sunshine...

shebird Sat 24-Nov-12 23:13:08

Not feeling the love.
Not as good value as yet they used to be. I have noticed price rises a few weeks prior to a 'price drop' on products when actually the price is just reverting to what it was before they put it up. Such a con.

Also online shopping not as good so many everyday items not available and not substituted. I mean seriously how difficult is it to substitute cheddar cheese?

MommyVan Sat 24-Nov-12 22:16:04

Not feeling the Tesco love here any more, thanks to the, forgetting half of my online shop.

Customer service were apologetic but only refunded me the £3 delivery charge plus an additional £3 in case I wanted to reorder the items. As it was a late delivery (9pm) I then had to go out and buy the missing items so we had breakfast stuff etc. I went to a different supermarket obv. Am still raging actually and it was months ago now!

quirrelquarrel Sat 24-Nov-12 22:12:26

Then asked me if I was sure of my name

This has just made me chuckle and cheered me up a little smile

witchitagrub Sat 24-Nov-12 22:08:51

Bad customer service personified to make a customer queue for 15 mins to rectify your mistake without an apology.

But then, you clearly have low standards worra.

MsElleTow Sat 24-Nov-12 22:06:41

I doubled up my Clubcard vouchers on the first day of the promotion, and ordered a kettle and a stir fry pan. I went in on Nov 3rd to pick them up, the pan wasn't there, so I have been back in 3 times since. I had a shitty email on Thursday saying I had 48 hours to pick it up.

I went in again today, they looked in the back, said it wasn't there. Then asked me if I was sure of my name hmm, went back out to look again, double checked my name, had another look, definitely not there, so said they'd ring me.

Before I got home, the had rang DS1 to say it was actually there and I have to go back and pick it! To make matters worse, it has been there since November3rd. So I have done, 5 trips of 10 miles, so far, it will be 6 in all, to pick up this flipping pan. They won't post it. They won't pay for my fuel. If I want it delivered I have to pay for it! I am diasbled so it is even more inconvenient for me because I need someone to come with me to carry it, because I use crutches so my hands aren't free.

Right now I hate Tesco!

scurryfunge Sat 24-Nov-12 22:06:00

Tescos delivery has never failed me.
Once I didn't notice some shoe polish at the bottom of the trolley and had already paid at the till. When I noticed it beyond the checkout I tried to pay but the manager told me not to worry and just have it anyway. I like Tescos.
