Am I in menopause shock

Regular periods until now on again after 2 bleeding friggin weeks. Always regular. Although last 4 months nasty heavy one's.

Waking up looking like I have been in a fight with the devil.

Somewhere in my early 40's I forget where exactly

Ohhh my fuckin gawd.

I want to CRY like a gawd damn baby, I am toooo young for this shit.

Do I now need Nylon Tights and a shopping Trolley for the bloody bus.

You should feel sorry for me. I was NEVER meant to get this bleedin old

FuckityDuck Fri 16-Nov-12 23:44:54

I feel very sorry for you, Fuckity. And sorry for myself as well, since I'm in exactly the same position as you.

It's fucking shit, isn't it? I've only just got through having babies and only stopped breastfeeding 3 years ago. Now I'm sprouting bristles on my chin and bleeding like a stuck pig every 2 and a half weeks.

Oh, and I am crying like a goddam baby. At everything a little bit sad. I'm also snapping at everyone who looks at me sideways, unable to settle down to anything, and am a total bugger to live with.

amistillsexy Fri 16-Nov-12 23:48:38

Oh sorry fuckity...not alot of sympathy there.

"There fucking there love, it happens to us all."

YABU to even consider setting foot in BM. Naughty naughty, slappy hands!!!

YAsooooNBU to feel awful if you're in early menopause. Been there and it's not a whole lot of fun. Have you spoken to your GP? They can help confirm.

I've been on HRT since 31. It's good. Do it! But don't even think about nylon tights- the slightest hint off a hot flush and you'll spontaneously combust!

MorrisZapp Fri 16-Nov-12 23:51:25

What are the signs then, of the start of menopause? I've heard of hot flushes but apart from that.

I've been wondering.

SageYourOracle Fri 16-Nov-12 23:51:53

YY to bristles. Could almost paint with them!

And I mostly feel homicidal.

usualsuspect3 Fri 16-Nov-12 23:52:17

The rage is a sign.

FuckityDuck Fri 16-Nov-12 23:52:27

Am a snappy bitch anyroads - so cant say ave noticed a change there hmm

thenightsky Fri 16-Nov-12 23:53:34

Another vote for HRT. I feel better now than I did in my 30s.

Got fab swiming costume from BM though grin

SageYourOracle Fri 16-Nov-12 23:54:55

Morris- either shortening or lengthening of cycles, hot flushes, night sweats, heart palpitations, memory loss, exhaustion, extreme mood swings, vaginal dryness, weight gain, achy, dragging limbs, whiskers on chin, low mood, itchy skin. . .

If you're a VERY lucky girl, like me, then you get to experience them all!

BackforGood Fri 16-Nov-12 23:56:30

Trolleys are great grin
I wish I'd bought mine YEARS ago whn I first ventured out without the pram to put things under.
this is the major advantage of getting older - you can do things like use a shopping trolley without any shame wink

BackforGood Fri 16-Nov-12 23:57:50

Oh, sorry, forgot to say, I went into BM a few weeks ago, (hoping to find something MiLish for Christmas), and there really wasn't anything that you'd want to buy.

But shopping trolleys are FAB

FannyBazaar Fri 16-Nov-12 23:58:27

Oh no, I had not considered the idea of needing Bon Marche. Got all excited when it opened up near me, perhaps mistaking it for a lovely shop I'd been to in France, went in for a look and was as confused as when I discovered Farm Foods wasn't a farmers market! I did go back once to look for some big pants to keep bum warm on bike but theirs were just too big, what I had in mind was more of a one at a time pair.

Off to check for bristles.

I'm early 40's and things have been going funny off and on for about 4 years now but docs just told me I'm too young.

The bit when they call you up for a smear test and ask you to come mid cycle and expect you to know when the hell that is, is one to look forward to...

amistillsexy Fri 16-Nov-12 23:58:46

Isn't HRT really bad for you, hasn't it been linked to cancer?

FuckityDuck Sat 17-Nov-12 00:00:14

So someone tell me the secret there must be one, you know the bit where you have what you got now, but take your years back.

Fuck I was supposed to be rich, successful blah blah by this age.

Not an impoverished single mum. With fuckin wrnkles.

thenightsky I snuck in when no-one was looking, for tankini bottoms tohidemybigbum shush dont tell anyone its a secret

FrostyTheShosheman Sat 17-Nov-12 00:00:32

FuckityDuck Sat 17-Nov-12 00:03:57

Is HRT good does it work - should I be speaking to the doc. Dont like that, they try and put you off sick, Tell you you drink too much, overweight shouldnt be smoking Ohhhh wait I quit 3 mths ago. Yeahhhh go me grin

thenightsky Sat 17-Nov-12 00:04:00

Latest research is that HRT is really good for you, if you start it early. The studies that reported cancer risks were done on fat smoking americans who hadn't started it until they were 10 years into menopause. Now they are saying you should start it at peri-menopause and keep on it for as long as you want.

hmmm...Okay...I'm a reformed smoker (gave up nearly ten years ago, but did it like it was going out of fashion for 20 years before that!), very young (to be thinking of HRT grin) and fat. I'm not American, so at least that's in my favour!

I think I'll start looking into HRT, get some of my youth back and kick these temporary wrinkles into touch.

PinkyCheesy Sun 18-Nov-12 22:37:47

My mum started HRT at 45 and still takes it sometimes and she is 75 next year!! Thinks its bloody marvellous I shut my ears when she harps on about her vaginal dryness

I don't think I am peri-menopausal yet, but I am still taking the Pill. It's a low-estrogen one that my doc recommends until you're about 50, assuming you don't smoke, have high blood pressure or are very overweight. It is deffo keeping the periods light and regular and maybe helps with all the other 'getting old' symptoms? I dunno but I am pretty scared of all that happening (am 44 soon...aaargh smile)

lovebunny Sun 18-Nov-12 22:56:11

i'd get that checked out, girly. you sound a bit young for it, to me.

and that hrt - i only know one woman who took it. she:
lost weight
took to wearing leather trousers
bought a porsche
took a lover

i kid you not. that's the truth.
