work colleague makes snide remarks when I leave

I work contracted hours from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday. My work colleague who is on the same grade as me and who started when I did works 930am to 330pm. I have to leave at 3pm to get my kids from school. My work colleagues husband works nights so he gets the kids for her from school. There are 3 of us that work around where the washing-up is so 1 of us puts away, the other 1 washes the pots/pans and the other 1 does plates/cutlery. When it is my time to leave I say goodbye and she tells me that I can't leave until I have finished. I did turn around once and say to her that I had kids to pick up from school. She makes snide remarks all the time when I have to leave. Sometimes (on the rare occasion) we might run over our time but she tells me that things have to be finished before we can go. Should I speak to my supervisor and tell her what she is doing or handle it myself? I don't like confrontations either - that's the sort of person that I am. Like yesterday I was asked to stay until 330pm by the supervisor so I said ok because my husband was off and he was getting the kids from school for me. When it got to 3pm my work colleague said to me it's 3pm and you have still got all of that to do yet and it has to be finished. She didn't even offer to help me which annoyed me because I was helping her before which now I will refuse to help her. What is the best way to handle this situation? She also says to me that I have to do it quickly if I am to leave at 3pm. So should I just ignore her and leave at 3pm, tell the supervisor or say something to her myself?

Don't say anything to her. Talk to your supervisor.

I think go the supervisor route- just so that it's on record if nothing else

I'd remind her that your contract finishes at 3pm. And if she has a problem with that, as her remarks would indicate, then suggest she speaks to the supervisor. I'd also tell her that you're tired of the snide remarks and her attempts to get you to work over your contracted hours. Tell her that she needs to stop the remarks or she'll leave you no option but to report her comments and attitude to the supervisor.

That way, you've given her fair warning and the ball is in her court.

Well if I tell her and she says to me why did you tell of me how should I say back to her why when she is already being off with me anyway?

You are doing your job in your contracted hours. Does she realize that you are not taking the mickey by coming later than she and leaving earlier?

So she gets an extra hours pay a day? Stupid woman.

Talk to your supervisor.

Talk to your supervisor.

Be ready to defend yourself as your colleague might try and make out your not pulling your weight or something.

You can't help that you have to get your kids, your paid till three and she sounds like a witch. Basically !

Or just say "I don't need to finish it - that's why you're here - bye!"

Talk to your supervisor.
You are not contracted for the same hours s this person so why should you work them?
Tell this person if she has a problem to talk to the supervisor.

Tell her you get paid for the hours between 10 and 3. Why should you work extra & not get paid for it. Tell her if she doesnt like it then she should talk to her superviser about her own hours.

If she does say I am not pulling my weight what should I say?

Nothing.
Talk to your supervisor and tell her/him what's going on.
Don't talk to this person any more than you have to in your job.

Do you know what time she finishes? Is she the latest, or one of the latest to finish work for the day? I'm just wondering if the work has to be done before closing up at 3.30pm, so if it isn't finished, she has to stay until is it. So she's pissed off because you leave earlier therefore never get affected by this?

She definately knows my work contract hours and she definately knows that I have to leave dead on 3pm to get the kids from school. Should I speak to my supervisor on Monday morning or wait and see if she says anything to me first?

Speak to the supervisor!
She has said enough already, surely?

Yes she finishes at 330pm. Her actual contract hours are until 330pm. When we had the interview I said to the area manager and the supervisor that I had to leave at 3pm to get the kids from school and she said that her husband picks up the kids from school for her so she can leave abit later than me. There is 1 other work colleague who leaves with her who helps her with the washing up

Just say "jealous?" as you walk out the door. That's what I do. However, my colleagues are lovely and are only winding me up.
