Guns can be described as "loaded". Cars and potato skins can not.

I keep hearing adverts for cars that are "loaded" with electric windows and air conditioning.
See menus that offer potato skins "loaded" with this or that.
Why? angry

Filled?... stuffed?... packed?... loaded....??? I don't really see the distinction. YABU

Why can't a potato skin be loaded?

MisForMumNotMaid Thu 15-Nov-12 16:23:38

You load a van. Hence, the van is loaded.

Maybe it's a southern thing then? A car being described as "loaded" with electric windows and air conditioning just makes me want to drop it in the car crusher.
Potato skins are filled. Or topped, surely. Loaded just sounds stupidly over the top.

I can be described as loaded on a Saturday night sometimes grin!

although I think the hatred began when I kept hearing an advert for some car or other that was "Louded wiv spec"

But potato skins have stuff loaded onto them - they aren't filled.

hmm IABU then. Just never heard it used in this context until very recently and it makes me grind my teeth

It's the poetry of everyday life. Innit.

Think of the car like a contestant on crackerjack.

The car is loaded up with lots of presenty extras.

And maybe a cabbage.

How can you be annoyed, thinking of a cabbage-clutching child? smile

It's a bit of a play on words though, isn't it? Implying that not only does the car/potato skin contain the advertised 'load', but also that there is loads of the loading. Advertiser weasel words.

I'm very happy with loaded up. I regularly load up my car with crap to take to the tip. I also load it. But when I've finished it is loaded up.

How heavy is a bit of garlic dip anyway? Or a sprinkling of cheese?

I bet duvet makers need loads of feathers

Nagoo are you drunk? grin

Erm, surely a car is loaded when the boot is full and it has 5 people sitting in it?

CaptainBarnaclesDaddyman Thu 15-Nov-12 17:34:25

Loaded spud skins go bang in your mouth! Explosive flavour! Kapow!

Ok ill sgree with that. Don't agree that an empty car can be loaded with blue tooth and electric Windows

HappyJustToBe Thu 15-Nov-12 17:51:11

I need some loaded potato skins now.

CaptainBarnaclesDaddyman Thu 15-Nov-12 17:55:47
