Am pretty sure that is not possible!!! They live in your anus. They cannot migrate round your body!!!

Aww, poor you, do you want to wash your eyes out with bleach? I usually use the NHS website for medical info, not too over the top!
On the bright side, persistent infections can cause weight loss Grin

WHAT? WHAT? NOSE AND EARS? Shock

I thought they just gave you an itchy bum for a while?
please do not panic, there is way too much (mis)information out there and if you have taken the Ovex as directed I am sure you will be cured asap.

They just live in your lower bowel. People who have them in their ears have dodgy personal habits. I've had them they are intensely itchy but within 3 days I was fine. I did take a pill 1 and then 2 weeks later though just to ensure i hadn't reinfected myself when i had them. Think I got them from gardening/soil as the kids never had them.
Wah your hands alot, cut your nails short and keep them clean and wear pants at night for a few nights. you'll be fine. The internet has alot of nutters on it, they congregate around anything medical. I avoid the medical areas of mumsnet.

You can't get them from gardening/the soil, Rebecca - they have to live in/on a human!!

Report
hiddenhome · 14/11/2012 23:22

They're not so bad. I used to just think of them as annoying, temporary lodgers Smile

Report
piprabbit · 14/11/2012 23:26

hidden that's how I've always thought of them. Annoying, slightly uncomfortable and very glad to see the back of them - but not sick making or aggressively invasive.

OP - if you are feeling more poorly than you ever have before, I'd go to your GP because it doesn't sound like typical threadworms.

Ah, I see none of you remember the cuntworm thread then????

Report
piprabbit · 14/11/2012 23:35

I've avoided that sort of thread ever since the spider-infested fanjo thread.

Report
kingbeat23 · 14/11/2012 23:42

Spider infested fanjo's???? For the love of all things remotely normal to think about before I go to sleep...PLEASE let no one link to that thread!!!

It's highly unlikely to have thread worms in your eyes ears and nose I would happily link to info about worms that do but they are gross. The health topic on here has a thread about thread worms that is helpfull.

Well I hope it is seen as a few of us spent ages giving info about them.

Belt and braces, eat a couple teaspoons of ground pumpkinseeds twice per day. It paralyses them so they can be passed without laying eggs.

I had them as a teenager and was too embarrassed to tell my mum. I actually had them for years until I got food poisoning and they disappeared. They never went other parts of my body. Take the medication, wash towels,, underwear and bedding on
a hot wash and hoover your mattress to get rid of all eggs. Clean your nails before eating and food preparation.

It took me months of uncomfortable visits to the GP, gaslighting, tests, GUM visits, denial, thinking I'm mad, cautious Google searches AND NOW I found a great medical transcript (interview with a doctor specialising in research of worms - video also linked) with scientific explanations regarding treatment, the organisms, research etc - https://www.fxmedicine.com.au/podcast/chronic-threadworm-infections-rachel-arthur#Resources 😃

I'm going to take this to my GP and pray they actually listen and help me get fully rid.

Chronic Threadworm Infections with Rachel Arthur | FX Medicine

Worms never conjure up a pleasant picture in our minds and threadworm might be more sinister than we've been led to believe.
