Please could all posters not write a huge wad of text and use paragraphs.

I can't be arsed to read posts without them and so pearls of wisdom are lost!!

littlewhitebag Wed 14-Nov-12 21:56:07

I like paragraphs, correct spelling, correct grammar and few or no acronyms!

Boomerwang Wed 14-Nov-12 21:51:51

posts then. whatever!

Everlong Wed 14-Nov-12 19:48:03

Absolutely boomerang those lovely threads with paragraphs wink

Everlong Wed 14-Nov-12 19:46:48

Ok ok.. cross wires grin

Boomerwang Wed 14-Nov-12 19:31:51

Simple, if you can't read it without paragraphs, you need to find an easier thread.

Everlong just to be clear I meant fuzzy snout not you me darling.

just asking ops to break up long texts of words so its easier to read.

You can magnify the text in most browsers. It does help.
(+) in Opera, ? others.

I understand this makes things difficult to read but in some cases it can't be helped. My stoopid tab is really buggy and sometimes it decides that paragraphs just aren't happening. It is very annoying but if it stops you wanting to read then just don't. Simple.

sure that

I write paragraphs

that you can use as stairs.

SauvignonBlanche Wed 14-Nov-12 18:40:10

I just don't read, or comment, on long posts without paragraphs.

blanksquit Wed 14-Nov-12 18:39:34

I was going to say how petty until i saw the thread that I think inspired this post. I couldn't read it either.

Everlong Wed 14-Nov-12 18:37:35

I was referring to sparkling about how paragraphs, spellings and grammar aren't always on the top of evryones list.

I agree that spellings can be difficult but I don't see how putting a paragraph in is.

thebody Wed 14-Nov-12 18:34:56

Wow well if that was meant for me just to say I never ever pull people up on spelling or grammar,, thick me love and think that's twattish.

Regards paragraphs I have no idea when they should be used but just asking ops to break up long texts of words so its easier to read.

As regards being kind, I am but if I think someone is being unreasonable I say so, otherwise why bother to ask in aibu.

LadyBeagle Wed 14-Nov-12 18:33:52

I honestly can't read posts without paragraphs either, whatever the subject.
I don't mind spelling mistakes or lack of punctuation, I'm guilty of it myself, but a long post with no paragraphs does my head in.
Sometimes, if it's a serious post, I have seen posters put it into paragraphs which I really appreciate, though some people might see it as patronising.

Everlong Wed 14-Nov-12 18:32:10

If you don't understand them confused

People read other threads that have paragraphs in, it's hardly rocket science.

fuzzysnout Wed 14-Nov-12 18:28:08

Nor is being pleasant to others, it would seem.

Paragraphs are not easy if you don't understand them or naturally write in that way. Would it really hurt so much to just be a little bit kinder?

Everlong Wed 14-Nov-12 18:24:07

Pulling someone over their spelling or grammar isn't the same.

People can easily put a paragraph in a long post. It's easy. Whereas spellings and grammar aren't easy to everyone.

fuzzysnout Wed 14-Nov-12 17:40:46

Paragraphs are very useful. However if you 'can't' read a post without them, feel free not to comment on said post. Personally I find the snide comments from people who feel that they have superiority based upon their literacy skills, far more offensive than a lack of paragraphs.

thebody Wed 14-Nov-12 17:38:24

Yes agree with those posts. You know when it's really from the heart.

JohnBender88 Wed 14-Nov-12 17:38:23

It hurts my eyes. I struggle to read anything without paragraphs and decent punctuation.

Sparklingbrook Wed 14-Nov-12 17:36:15

Yes when you are upset somehow paragraphs, spellings and punctuation aren't top of the list of things to care about. sad

But if it's some cobblers about the neighbours or someone at the school gates looking at you in the wrong tone of voice etc it's a bit hard work with no paragraphs.

Sirzy Wed 14-Nov-12 17:29:27

I agree Sparkling, I think in some cases the lack of paragraphs needs to be ignored. If you read the first few lines and see its s sensitive topic either persevere and read it or ignore the thread don't make someone feel worse.

Sparklingbrook Wed 14-Nov-12 17:27:40

The only time when i feel a bit sad about it is where the OP has poured their heart out. They are really upset about something in a huge paragraph.

Then the first reply is just literally 'Paragraphs would be good', and no reply.

I got a roasting once for saying the same thing.

A pet hate of mine.
