AIBU?

To think that if you do not name uniform, you cannot be cross when it gets lost?

Had an angry parent after school today moaning that her DDs fleece and cardigan had been lost this term.

They are the school ones with the logo. She really ranted and then when I could get a word in edge ways I asked whether she had put her DDs name in them and she said no Hmm.

Her DD is big for her age so could easily have been mistaken for ks2 items. I explained that if they were not named they get put in the central lost property box.

AIBU to think that if you do not name the items, you cannot e particularly cross when they go missing?

Do you think I should write names in her cardigan/jumper tomorrow if she's wearing one or not?

No she can't get cross, but can I be cross that I sewed dc's name into her Sports shirt, and her jumper, and it still got lost? Angry

DS still came home with random jumper despite name being in his, however if you don't name them it is unreasonable to expect school/teacher to keep track of items.

When I take kids out of school for sports matches I write their names in their fleeces simply because they take them off and chuck them in a heap then all hell breaks out when they can't find their own and when the match is over I want to be out of there , not searching for missing clothing
Nobody has complained yet

YANBU, but since when has calm reason changed what an angry person thinks? Grin

We've all been instructed to order and sew on GIGANTIC name tags for PE kit, on the outside of every item.

DD1 has still managed to lose a fleece.

Named uniform disappears into the ether too, you know.

Yanbu. We get this at the school I work in and it drives me batty.

I appreciate that named uniform gets lost too, but it's quite possible that you have no idea how many times it has been returned to its owner before it ended up lost, or how many times the children and TAs have looked at the name tape to ensure that the right jumper is ending up on the right child.

Just name stuff, please!

YANBU, but I name everything and so far this term ds has lost trainers and a jumper and dd has lost a cardigan, a coat and a water flask. Where the fuck do they go?

Two expensive scho jumpers are out there with ds2s name well sewn in (would have to picked out) somewhere and they're not in list property.

I guess if you don't name your stuff you can go to lost property and grab another same unnamed item and pretend it was yours

I went in, not moaning, but I went in quite a lot trying to locate ds's new school jumper. Getting the teacher to ask everyone to check etc.

I had put his name in it as I explained to the teacher. Just at that point a small voice (ds) piped up, 'yes but I picked it off'.

We found it in the endHmm.

Well dd's gym shirt turned up today, after being missing for a month. So making my fingers bleed sewing the damn labels in obviously worked.

I forgot to put DD's name in one of her cardigans this year and it inevitably disappeared for a week. It came home with her name in big blue letters written in by her teacher along with a disapproving eyebrow when handed back... The shame.. Blush

A girls mum at nursery has put her full name, in black marker across the front of ALL her clothes
One lost jumper too many perhaps....Hmm
