Got a toy cupboard from Freecycle and am now going to pick up a blanket box to redecorate for the babies room.

DH wants me to not get the blanket box as it could bring bad heebiejeebies into the house.

Well AIBU to go get it as he's clearly wrong?

Older stuff is often better quality - after all it's lasted long enough to become second hand!

I paid £70ish for an ikea bookcase which is now falling apart (TBF a lot of ikea stuff is actually brilliant) and £40ish for an old massive floor to ceiling unit thing from British Heart Foundation which has lasted brilliantly and looks gorgeous.

When we first moved in together we couldn't afford a 3 piece suite so we got a second hand one for £30. It lasted us 6 years, do definitely not bad luck for us!

Mind you, if he's so sure - tell him to "exorcise it" be putting in the middle of salt circle in the garden at midnight obv. in costume and with chanting. Then film him.

It's Lloyd loom type apparently so should be way better than buying a cheap new one and I like the idea of decorating it to suit.

It does have a fabric top I think but I'm going to reupholster anyway as soon as I YouTube how

love second hand stuff, our whole house is full of it, cheap stuff to tide us over and also good stuff that we couldn't afford to buy new.
Lots of it is admittedly from family, but I am an avid user of ebay and freecycle.

Tell him that the new paint wipes away the heebyjeebies!!!

We had second hand 3 piece suit when I was younger, there was a big sofa and 2 chairs, an old lady had died on the sofa so me and my brother refused to sit on it, for years we'd only sit on the chairs even going as far to sharing a chair if we had guests.

My dp thinks it is wrong to buy second hand baby clothes incase there are ghosts attached to them. I ignore him.

What a weirdo! Apart from our beds and one chair none of our pieces of furniture is new... YANBU but maybe check why exactly he doesn't want the blanket box. Maybe he doesn't like it and is using the heebie jeebies as an excuse.

I bought a loyd loom box by the way, spray painted the wicker and reupholstered the top - it looks good!

Get yourself to the library and find some simple how to restoration books - the 2nd hand furniture world will be your oyster. Just check for active worm!
