AIBU to have laughed my socks of at the irony of her missing the point of freedom of speech?

Yes, it's a Daily Fail link.

Wow! What a bitch. I was there yesterday and met many more women writing blogs about all manner of stuff, as well as women who are doing it whilst also working full time.

I think she missed the point spectacularly of yesterday.

I wonder how much she got paid for attending? Or for writing that piece?

But more importantly, I didn't get a Boden umbrella or Caitlin Mornan's new book in my goodie bag! Envy

BIWI I don't think it's news that she is a bitch - I wish there was a male equivalent of that though.

I'd demand satisfaction from Mumsnet over the umbrella and book - I'll be your second, pistols or swords?

I suspect that piece was written WEEKS ago.....

Seriously doubt that she attended that, rushed home , wrote a bitchy article and got it in ready for publication today.

Does anyone here actually live in a 'cupcake scented world'? I'm feeling inadequate.

I don't think I've ever actually made a cupcake. (I've made fairy cakes in the past but I'm not sure that counts.)

I guess she won't be invited to the Christmas meet up then? Smile

Surely, if she says she was there some of you must have seen her?

Report
BIWI · 11/11/2012 08:34

She took part in the panel discussion - but I didn't see her apart from that (mind you, there were bloody hundreds of us, so that's not surprising!)

dawntigga - 'bitch' is the most horrible word I use. And I don't use it lightly.

She must have written it afterwards because according to Cambridge Mummy's Blog Liz not only spoke to her but then posted inaccurate information about her!

So not only is she a bitch, she's a liar and a bad journalist.

None of which is news to me.

She sounds like a total bitch but I agree with her comments on blogging mums.

One friend in particular gets on my wick with her blog shite about parenting and thinking that writing about it makes her an expert. I've called her on a few of her more judgey posts but give up now.

IMHO too many people are doing it now for it to be interesting...plus I'm too busy living my life to read about your boring one Smile

I had no idea blogging could be so lucrative. I wonder, too, what their husbands think of them and their rantings. I imagine it makes them feel like proper men, with little women who instead  of tapping away at the glass  ceiling swap recipes and tips for getting a child off to sleep.

So did LJ's whinging for money airing stained and grubby laundry made Mr LJ feel like a "proper man" then?

And does constantly pointing out that nobody's ever bought her anything ever ever and she's broke and unhappy and damaged and never ever ever been bought ANYTHING ever count as "chipping away at the glass ceiling"?

Personally, I rather enjoy her self-pitying rambles, if nothing else it makes me grateful for my life.

But this jealous patronising spite is ridiculous. Some women are happily married, some women write great blogs about the thing that matter to them, stop taking it so personally, Liz.

I was Shock when I read it. I always kind of liked her, felt sorry for her. Gloves are off now. Bitch.

But applefalls if she didn't take it personally she'd actually have to do something about her own sorry mess and then what would she have to blog write about in her column?

Ah here she is, mad old Liz, jabbering on again, slagging off women.

And all is right with the world.

I feel a bit sorry for her actually - I think the 'empty womb' comment sums her up totally. She obviously cannot have the one thing she desperately craves, but it's a shame that she feels such bile towards those who have children.

I read this and thought 'what a bitter, twisted pull the ladder up after myself type'. I'm no fan of LJ at the best of times but this combined with the article on why she's left the countryside has me seething.

I've never been interested in reading the blogs on here before but I'll have a good nosy now to bump up ad revenue for the bloggers. Liz, retire already! And don't go on about your 'empty womb' your choice, unlike some women who don't have children.

Dawn, oops, you're right. And what would provide my Schadenfreude Sunday then? That column always reminds me how bloody blessed my life is.

Mildred: children, husbands, happiness, the Holy Trinity of crimes against Liz.

I feel sorry for her too, but that article was just pathetic.

I think Liz Jones has hit an all time low. She is a spiteful woman with very few redeeming qualities.
I do believe she is so spiteful to SAHM because she cannot have that life. She is trying to convince herself more than us.

many, many things annoy me about Liz Jones.

here are just a few

  1. referring to a year's maternity leave as a "holiday"
  2. Saying that women with children or on mat leave are expecting her to do all their work for them even though she chose not to have children blah de blah
  3. Moaning that nobody has ever bought her anything when her husband nirpal bought her some diamond earrings. They were too small and therefore represented his lack of love for her so she took them back and had them upgraded.
  4. Forgetting what she has written in the past so she can play the self pity card (see item 3 above)
  5. being the worst misogynist I have ever come across.
  6. Not liking ANYONE.
  7. Whingeing about being broke whilst driving a BMW and having a six figure salary.
  8. Criticising women who don't buy designer clothes.

applefalls I agree with you.

I read her stuff and it makes me so grateful I've chosen my life. The exact opposite to hers, happily married, SAHM sometimes, part time work sometimes, but never a "career woman" whose been left bitter and single. I would hate her life.

She has to attack other women inorder to earn money. Very sad really.

I just find it ultimately disappointing that it seems to be impossible to have reasonable debate any more. I've left a comment on mail website to the same effect.

What the actual jefferson does she think she churns out every week that is so very different from a mummy blog (not that all the MNblogs are, ykwim)?
Praps that's why she's so bitchy. Worried that if people do it for free, you'll lose your inexplicably big pay-cheque, Jiz? Poor love.
