AIBU?

To have just cried at the John Lewis advert?!

I'm sitting in the car waiting to pick DH up from the station and someone sent it to me.

Now all the other people waiting in cars must think I'm a loon.

I am pregnant though so maybe it's not tear worthy to normal, sane, non hormone addled people.

I'm usually a sucker for these ads but I think it's shite.

Why didn't Mr Snowman just shop online?? Confused

I didn't shed a tear, but I do think it's lovely! Smile

I think I must be turning into my mother- can't even blame hormones for it!

I have yet to like a JL advert for soem reason they tend to send me stabby Grin

My personal worst was the red dress one which was deeply depressing, the first time I saw it I was expecting it to be for life insurance.

It's beautifully shot but poor on John Lewis because instead of spending their money in the UK, where's its badly needed, they spent 6 million pounds shooting the ad in New Zealand.

I'm shocked. It should have been shot in the Scottish Highlands or the Welsh mountains. We should have kept the money in this nation where it's badly needed.

I thought the ad was very meh anyway and nothing compared to the Irn Bru snowman which I only saw today (thanks Mumsnetter who pointed that out but I've been humming that tune all day)

I'm the biggest softy going but there is nothing emotional about this ad - except the amount of money that John Lewis wasted.

Well if he can schlep cross country with no legs and is capable of entering and shopping in John Lewis then who's to say he doesn't have a smartphone?

Stupid ad. With yet another simpering female cover song.

And why would Mrs Snowman need a hat and gloves?? She's made of snow FFS!!

I may be overthinking this. Hmm.

Just watched it, thought it was rubbish. It went through my mind that he was going to get Mrs a hat and scarf set before it finished and I thought that would be a crap ending.

Now I know it was filmed in NZ, I like it even less.

I imagine they filmed it in NZ because they needed snowy mountains.

I thought it was excellent, although not as good as last years but then it was always going to be hard to beat that tearjerker.

Josh - Snow machines make snow sometimes on the French Alps when I go skiing. They don't cost millions of pounds.

I must have a different idea of a good ad because I thought last year's was awful too.

...and I'm a big John Lewis fan (normally). But not their ads, obviously.

I said this one of of the other JL advert threads (there are a few).

Reasons to cry-

It cost £6 million
The lady snowperson's hair is awful.

The best ending would be for him to return and another snowman had taken his place and a couple of snowchildren there too. perfect. Smile
