I'm sitting in the car waiting to pick DH up from the station and someone sent it to me.

Now all the other people waiting in cars must think I'm a loon.

I am pregnant though so maybe it's not tear worthy to normal, sane, non hormone addled people.

curiousgeorgie Sat 10-Nov-12 12:00:27

Just me then! grin

blue2 Sat 10-Nov-12 12:01:21

No you're not alone. I cried and I'm not pregnant!

BunnyLeBOOwski Sat 10-Nov-12 12:01:41

I'm usually a sucker for these ads but I think it's shite.

Why didn't Mr Snowman just shop online?? confused

NuzzleandScratch Sat 10-Nov-12 12:01:43

I didn't shed a tear, but I do think it's lovely! smile

IronyFreeAnnie Sat 10-Nov-12 12:10:47

I cried blush.

I think I must be turning into my mother- can't even blame hormones for it!

ChaoticismyLife Sat 10-Nov-12 12:15:01

Why didn't Mr Snowman just shop online??

Because he doesn't have internet access of course wink

I've just seen it and liked it smile

Sparklingbrook Sat 10-Nov-12 12:23:42

Why is everyone crying?

Sparklingbrook Sat 10-Nov-12 12:24:43

Well people who are not pregnant anyway. grin

GobblersSparklyExplodingKnob Sat 10-Nov-12 12:27:40

I have yet to like a JL advert for soem reason they tend to send me stabby grin

My personal worst was the red dress one which was deeply depressing, the first time I saw it I was expecting it to be for life insurance.

Ruprekt Sat 10-Nov-12 12:28:03

It is sweet!

And filmed in New Zealand!!

Sparklingbrook Sat 10-Nov-12 12:28:55

And cost bloody 6 million quid! shock

youmeatsix Sat 10-Nov-12 12:31:29

lovebunny Sat 10-Nov-12 12:32:22

Sparklingbrook Sat 10-Nov-12 12:34:44

confused I must be missing a gene. <worries>

Jelly15 Sat 10-Nov-12 12:35:00

I think it is pretty but didn't make me well up.

EIizaDay Sat 10-Nov-12 12:55:14

It's beautifully shot but poor on John Lewis because instead of spending their money in the UK, where's its badly needed, they spent 6 million pounds shooting the ad in New Zealand.

I'm shocked. It should have been shot in the Scottish Highlands or the Welsh mountains. We should have kept the money in this nation where it's badly needed.

I thought the ad was very meh anyway and nothing compared to the Irn Bru snowman which I only saw today (thanks Mumsnetter who pointed that out but I've been humming that tune all day)

I'm the biggest softy going but there is nothing emotional about this ad - except the amount of money that John Lewis wasted.

BunnyLeBOOwski Sat 10-Nov-12 12:59:37

Well if he can schlep cross country with no legs and is capable of entering and shopping in John Lewis then who's to say he doesn't have a smartphone?

Stupid ad. With yet another simpering female cover song.

And why would Mrs Snowman need a hat and gloves?? She's made of snow FFS!!

I may be overthinking this. Hmm.

Tressy Sat 10-Nov-12 13:08:19

Just watched it, thought it was rubbish. It went through my mind that he was going to get Mrs a hat and scarf set before it finished and I thought that would be a crap ending.

Now I know it was filmed in NZ, I like it even less.

Waswondering Sat 10-Nov-12 13:11:28

It didn't do it for me as much as last year's one did - the snowman made me think of the weeping angels from Dr Who ...

JoshLyman Sat 10-Nov-12 13:24:15

I imagine they filmed it in NZ because they needed snowy mountains.

I thought it was excellent, although not as good as last years but then it was always going to be hard to beat that tearjerker.

Sparklingbrook Sat 10-Nov-12 13:25:50

Could have got a decent celeb for 6 milllion. wink

Softlysoftly Sat 10-Nov-12 13:26:38

Crying at adverts, really? Really?

<<hard faced emoticon>>

EIizaDay Sat 10-Nov-12 13:26:54

Josh - Snow machines make snow sometimes on the French Alps when I go skiing. They don't cost millions of pounds.

I must have a different idea of a good ad because I thought last year's was awful too.

EIizaDay Sat 10-Nov-12 13:28:07

...and I'm a big John Lewis fan (normally). But not their ads, obviously.
