AIBU?

To find that the youth of today remind me of Dick Van Dyke

OMG I think I am officially now old.
I was walking behind some teenage boys this morning and really had to stop myself giggling at them. One was wearing track suit bottoms that were pulled so far down that there was a gap between his trousers and his pants and the others weren't much better. Whenever I see this I can't stop myself from thinking about the bit in Mary Poppins where Dick Van Dyke pulls his trousers down and pretends to be a penguin! Then I get the giggles.
If I were 16 would I find this look incredibly sexy?

I sooooo don't get this as a 'look' either.

I would have laughed at them at 16 just as i do now.

Apparently this trousers hanging down started in the ghettos of America where lads would take their belts off their trousers to show solidarity with their bro's in prison. (where their belts would have been taken off them in custody) ...

So ... it still looks bloody silly! Grin

Also - how do they manage to walk like that?

I don't understand this fashion either, but then I am old. I do want to run up behind them and just pull the trousers up for them, but would probably get done for assault or something!!!

When I hear the ridiculous mockney accent that some young boys have adopted around my way (west kent), I also think of Dick VD's outrageous turn in Mary Poppins.

It looks bizarre. How do they manage to walk like that. And how come they don't fall down round their ankles.

I was once sitting in a caff in the park watching some yoof with those down-past-the arse trousers...and one of their trouser did actually fall down! Round his ankles!
I was with my mum. How we laughed! Grin
The boy did manage a chuckle too, to his credit!

My biggest "ooh I am old" bugbear is boys in low slung very tight jeans, big hightop trainers and those knitted hats stuck on the back of their heads. They look like Goblins!
