To be annoyed by dh singing...?

Don't get me wrong, I love him, and he has not a bad voice, but his singing just winds me up.

He sings like he thinks he is good! He was singing while cooking earlier, I walked in the kitchen, and I don't know if he realised it, but he sort of knocked it up a step when I came in the room! I do not know why he annoys me, his voice is ok, but he is singing in the kitchen, not on stage, so why sing like he is a bloody award winning singer of a band! He only ever sings in the house, it is not like he will sing in public and do karaoke or anything. He went for a really high note earlier and I just jumped away from him in surprise and then he has the cheek to look at me like i am odd!. He should be like me, only sing to the kids, who quite often tell me to stop anyway and throw things at me or sing when no one else is in the house!

My DH would crack up if he read this

For some odd, inexplicable reason I sing Irish songs when I'm hungry?!?! Blush

No YANBU.

In our house it isn't singing its playing the fucking 'drums'.
On everything.
Seriously, it's like living with the blue man group all the time and makes me feel very stabby.
Unfulfilled childhood dreams. Never made it as a drummer so we all have to suffer - just this evening he woke both of the DC up because he was bashing the sugar tin and cooker with a fork and spoon. Hmm

Singing here too and usually it's something really catchy that gets in my head for days and days then I find myself singing it and I want to slap DH with divorce papers because it's so annoying!

This usually settles it:

DH singing.
Me: 'Oh, hey, who sings that?'
DH: names singer
Me: 'Let's keep it that way, eh?'

Good job he loves me and doesn't take it personally :)

See that is it, I think he wanted to be in Blur or something as a teen...so now i have to suffer for it! And if it is not singing it is constantly humming the same bit of a song, over and over and over...........................

WorraLiberty - if you burst into song does he know to go fetch a mars bar at least though!

DH whistles.

It makes me twitch. Especially when he only knows one line of a chorus so he just keeps whistling that over, and over, and over again, until your ears bleed...

If he starts doing that wiggle body thing while singing and waggling the one finger up and down, i will have to divorce him. It is the earnest look on his face that cracks me up when he is singing, and my 4 year old, who also sings all the time, which I do not mind, also does the whole "earnest singing" face! He is 4!

My DH plays the bagpipes. I am a shell of a woman

You win chocolateistheenemy! Grin

Drums have nothing on the bagpipes!

oh hellsfire not the bloody bagpipes!

I would definitely leave the bastard for that!

Worraliberty - Irish song singer here too, when cooking. It runs in our family and is actually unstoppable. The only time there's respite from it is during the month of December when it changes to Christmas carols/songs.

Just as well I'm single Grin

My DH drums. Not on drums or with drumsticks; on EVERYTHING and with his fingers.

Grin at Pochemuchka, that's hilarious! For me, that is.
For you, I imagine it's very fucking annoying.

Sorry, YABU.
He's happy at home.
Be proud.

(My DH dictated this to me).

grovel - see i would not mind the singing if it was a bit crap, like me, but he actually tries...why!?

Not as bad as when you get the young girls on the bus, who actually do have good voices and hence feel the need to sing, showing off that is! They expect the whole bus to be looking at them thinking how good they are, when really all we want is to get home as quickly as possible and for them to be silent, not going all Pixie Lott on us!

chocolate-air bagpipes or real bagpipes??

Me and dp play air saxophone and air accordion when we're pissed. It's a bit of a pisstake of all the air guitars though.

He rarely sings (good thing, because he's bloody awful, ear bleeding awful) he is a drummer and rarely drums on things which is good, but my mother. Oh god my mother is the worst. She has a terrible, excruciatingly embarrassing voice and is one of them who sings along very loudly to songs in shops.
