AIBU?

To not have bathed ds tonight?

I didn't think it was a problem...until my mother phoned.

I've been really ill since yesterday, haven't managed to keep anything down or sleep. Dp bathed ds last night but had to go to work tonight. Have been in all day and ds obviously isn't dirty (he's 1). He usually gets a bath every night and is in a pretty good routine but tonight I just didn't have the energy, I'm exhausted.

Anyway, my dm phones and I mention the bath situation and she starts going on about how it shouldn't matter how I feel, it's more important to keep ds in his routine. It's only one night ffs!!

Ffs. I have a four year old and six year old who get bathed once a week and after messy football. They survive. they sleep. They are fine.

Ignore. Yanbu. In fact now is a great time to know the every day bath on the head.

Think of the water. And environment. And the hassle ;-)

Oh ignore her. I often occasionaly don't bath DS if he's proper tired and just wants to go to sleep. Yay for wet wipes :)

Unless he's covered in shit a wet wipe will suffice until you're better. Smile

Thank you! Nice to know I'm not a terrible mother! I was very close to putting the phone down but can't be bothered with the fall out from it!

I was advised not to bathe DS every night as it is bad for their skin. He has 2 or 3 baths/showers a week which is plenty.

Missing one bath won't do him any harm

Just don't tell her next time. My dd (also 1) only has a bath a few times a week and she's still alive! Hope you feel better soon.

Every 2-3 days here too. Ds2 has exzema and it's ten times worse if he bathes every day

This is why I love mn, justifying why I shouldn't have to bath ds every night. Thank you!!

Wait till Dcs is 10 years old like mine. Getting him anywhere near soap will be a major achievement!

Once a week is ample if you are top n tailing. Much better for skin oils to not wash them away. Hope you feel better soon.

My 2.7 year old has 3 baths per week. I don't have time to do it everyday.

She is a cheeky bitch! I bite my tongue though, my poor dad would have to listen to her harp on about my rudeness for hours.

Easy solution for next time - tell her how ill you are, then when she says to rest get her to come and do bath time!!!! (YANBU btw!)

Wow I never bath my 3 more than every other day. Better for their skin and my sanity Grin

No need for every-day bathing, it's just something a lot of people do because others do I suppose..

I didn't today either. Too sick as well!
