Where do they get the clothes they put in the "sale" anyway?

Rack upon rack with horrid looking clothes that I have never seen on the shop floor prior to the "sale"?

Do they honestly think that sales will increase by filling their shop with tat and advertise a "sale" to get rid of shite, and lure people in to look at the non sale items?

Non sale items are generally ill fitting, and does not wear well. I wore a jumper twice, for just a few hours, and it was so matted that I had to start picking fluff of it. After two wears, it looks like an old jumper that has been worn for years and years.

I used to think Gap was ok, what has happened?

Gap used to be okay: reasonable quality and good bargains to be had in the sales. Their children's stuff used to be excellent.

Agree that the quality now is shocking. I went in there today to kill five minutes whilst the dds were dithering over hair dye next door - it was rack up on rack of vile rubbish. I wouldn't have taken it for free tbh.

Completely agree Quint! Dh and I went in there separately today and both said afterwards just how crap the "sales" were. It was like a pile of crap from out back somewhere had been scooped up and stuck on the shop floor Shock

I was in there at the beginning of the sale a few weeks ago, though. The same stuff now as then.

I think they are buying cheap stuff somewhere purely to put out as sales items.

Are you being unreasonable to not like clothes from Gap?

Er, no. What made you think it might be unreasonable to dislike clothes from a particular shop?

I like their jeans, but they stopped doing Long and Lean, which is annoying.

Ah Trills, I guess I just deliberately avoided CHAT to ensure the thread never goes.... Grin

We've all got a couple of their hoodies from the sales which are fab, but last time I went in there I couldn't really find anything worth having, even the regular stock wasn't much cop

My eldest DD is very much a hoodie/jeans/surfer shorts/converse kinda girl so Gap was fab for her, but even she couldn't find anything.

I prefer it to bloody Hollister though, at least I can see in Gap

I still think it is ok for childrens clothes. Not for me any more though. Used to love their wool jumpers. Sad

It really WAS vile. Racks of polyester, shapeless box shaped t-shirts that already seemed to be unravelling at the neck, bobbly jumpers. Everything felt thin and cheap and even the full price stuff looked and felt pretty horrible.

I bought the black grey and white stripe wool jumper two weeks ago, and it got bobbles after just wearing it twice. So disappointing. £34 is not cheap for single use clothing! You would not buy single use cutlery and spend £34!

Take it back, Quint and tell them it's not fit for purpose.

Their sizing is also shit. I couldn't get maternity stuff to fit - I wasn't that big!

My DH buys jeans and chinos from there because they're the only ones that fit him perfectly from the high street. I buy all of DS and Dd's socks from there. They're excellent quality. I bought size 10 jeans from there once that looked like they were size 16 on me, they wouldn't even fit with a belt. Now I'm fat and I wish I hadn't given them to oxfam. :(.
I only ever go to the outlet store to shop there though. I have a 10% discount bag, so buy things at about 80% discount. I got some lovely shirts for £2 for DH a few months ago.

We have an outlet store near us. Last week I got a pair of cropped skinny cords for £14 and a pair of brown chino style trousers for work for £9.99. Both lovely quality and great fit (I find the sizing generous and generally go down a size).

-shrug-

I can never find anything to wear from Topshop, doesn't mean it's all shite.

I got a great pair of black skinny jeans in the gap sale for £12. There does seem to be a lot of stuff in there that no one sensible would look twice at, though.

In their defence I've recently bought some new gym gear there, stretchy yoga pants and some wicking workout capris and they are all great - perfect fit, comfortable and flattering.
