Because of all the fiddly bits, and it doesn't do anything. On the other hand Lego is great, the little bits fit together.

well it's up to you what you like but....playmobil doesn't have to do anything. Your childs imagination does that! :o

Too many tiny bits, but my DS does play imaginatively with it. With Lego he enjoys building the models but doesn't really play with them once they are built. Horses for courses. He got a Playmobil set for a recent birthday that came in a carry case to contain the bits - a step in the right direction.

Ds is nearly 3 and just starting to get into playmobil. It's great stuff.

I agree . I hate playmobile it looks so ugly we only have a couple of small sets, both gifts. Neither dc ever ask for it or play with it.

YABU.

Playmobil allows children to use their imagination. What do you want it to do! Grin

Play mobile is wonderful - completely inspires my DC.

It's the fact that once it's built it's done. Whereas with Lego it can be adapted. Maybe it's a boy/girl thing, and girls like the fiddly bits.

We have been given a couple of sets of playmobil (sorry to add the e in the title Blush) and they sit gathering dust, but Lego gets wizzed around the room and adapted into other 'ships'.

PS I have DSs, 4 and 7.

But there are so many little bits to play with with playmobile!

I think it's more 'done' though, Lego is more creative it that it is just tiny blocks.

I just keep thinking about the apples that came with the orchard playmobil, they wouldn't stay on the tree!

Playmobil doesn't need to do anything that's the child's job. Their imagination makes it do all sorts of things

But Sylvanian families are worse. My DD love them. Unfortunately so does the hoover. And the dog.

Lego is far more creative.

But I do love Sylvanians. Did you know one of the Grunt pig family is called Hugh Grunt?

I love playmobil. I have a house and am very excited to be getting a playpark for my christmas. Er I mean my dd of course. I love legislation too but it's a completely different type of play.

Although lego friends can f off don't see why girls need a special set.

Unfortunately, DD2 is a total Playmobil addict and leaves her Lego totally in touched and unloved.

Modern Lego has too many specific pieces, it needs real imagination to make something on not on the box.

They have also totally failed to see that girls would buy Lego houses and Lego vehicles if there was a bit of pink and purple styling (sad, but true). What they did do for girls wasn't proper Lego.

I loved Lego as a child ( mind you there wasn't much choice of things to do in them days!) and used to build loads of different things. My dcs just used to build the things suggested on the box and left it at that. It didn't fire their imaginations at all.

YABU. Playmobile is genius - and great for imaginative play.

In a toy fight though, I'd go for Lego. If I were forced to spend the rest of my life playing with one toy with a young child I'd kill myself pick Lego.

Depends on your child's approach to play. Ds just made the lego sets them left them to gather dust. When you 'play' with them, all the bits fall off.
He hated playmobil tho as 'it doesn't do anything' - thus entirely missing the point that you are supposed to 'play' with it eg create battles, talk for the characters etc
Dd loves her playmobil because she understands how to do that. She also likes making lego, but makes her own creations
Ds is a rule follower and logician. Lego set making suited his personality. Dd is very imaginative, she could play with anything, but not so fussed about following the rules

we have both.ds1 loves lego, he adores building stuff. dd is good at building too but then wants to play with her creations and gets annoyed when they fall apart so she plays a lot with playmobil instead.

I'm really disappointed with playmobil. Got some for ds last Xmas, he was 3.5. Got the plane and the pirate ship. I built them for him and they then fell apart every time he tried to play with them. The wings won't stay on the plane ffs! In my opinion it's overpriced plastic tat. The happy land stuff is much much more durable and allows imaginative play without needing to constantly repair things. We have a huge box of Lego now, which is brilliant. The sets were made and put in the box where they have sort of disintegrated and now ds makes a million different things. We have had a supermarket, park, hotel, house, etc - all out of the Lego city police and fire sets and a few packs of building bricks doors and windows. It's his best toy and I don't mind joining in either!
