I have no belief in derren browns psychic ability. his usual hypnosis shows are blatantly all set up with actors/actresses. I have had many an argument about this in the past with dh. His current 'apocalypse' show- if it were real- would be a Jeremy beadle gone (far) too far. However, this apocalypse show is mildly entertaining. At least he is admiting that there are actors involved- though clearly guy who is supposed to be hypnotised is an actor too. (Dh thinks otherwise)

I love him and really enjoy his tricks. I don't think he expects people to believe he's anything but a showman.

He doesn't claim to have psychic ability, in fact he is pretty vocal about the fact he doesn't believe in psychic abilities.

I have seen Derren Brown live. He is amazing. He is quite clear though that he is not psychic and does not proclaim to be. In fact he has made a programme about dodgy psychics. He is amazing at reading peoples gestures and from that figuring out what they are going to do. He also cleverly suggests many things which people subconsiously pick up on.

I saw him years ago and at the end of the show he actually showed some of what he had been doing and how he had worked things out.

I really enjoy his stuff and am recording this thing tonight.

Sorry psychic was probably the wrong word (I've had a few glasses of wine :) I don't believe he is actually hypnotising anyone- I think it's all in the name of entertainment (fair enough) but to believe in it is daft surely? If he was really hypnotising the guy on tonight's 'apocalypse' show he'd be going 10 steps too far!!

Basically I'm annoyed that dh thinks the guy in the show is actually hypnotised!!

YANBU. Just can't understand why anyone would watch this Apocalypse show when it's so blatantly all so fake. There's no way they would ever get permission to do this to an unsuspecting person for real. What if they never recovered psychologically?

He makes no claims to be psychic - debunks them frequently. He said at a show once he'd stop all his shows etc if he met just one 100% genuine psychic. I love him but does give me the heeby Jeebies though.

The whole point of Derren Brown's show is to debunk the psychics' claims.

He recreates what pscychics do using other methods - and tells the audience this.

The whole thing is laughable. I saw a bit of it. He went up to the bloke on the bus and put his hand over his eyes and wham, he was under I finally had enough of it at that point and turned over.

Even if I believed in 'look into my eyes' hypnotism. That was bullshit.

It was very clear that the 'victim' is an actor too.

I was saying to my husband how ridiculous it is. I said if that was actually done to me - hacking into my phone, my computer, getting everyone to collude in making me think the world was ending, subjecting me to frightening experiences...

I'd sue their arses off. For the trauma!
