to think Pippa Middleton is shamelessly cashing in on her royal connections....

..... in publishing a party planning book. I mean, no-one would have heard of her otherwise. I bet the Queen is horrified. AIBU to find it all greedy and money-grabbing?

Of course she is. Most celebs do the same. It's very annoying for us poor writers. Sad

Of course! Don't we all use connections we have to enhance our businesses?

Report
Tobagostreet · 26/10/2012 19:38

Isn't that in line with her family business (party supplies) rather than her exploiting her royal connections?

I said this recently, and DH commented that perhaps they are pushing her out there to give Kate and William a bit of a breather.

Good luck to her... I'd do the same if I were lucky enough to be in her position.

Better than cashing in on her arse Grin

I would in her position to be honest! Grin

But her parents runs a party planning website and she works for it and writes a blog for it. I doubt its anythibg to do with the Royals. I won't read it but don't think this is anywhere near as bad as the books actually about the royal family.

I read a while ago on the daily wail that she was thinking of going into the wedding planning industry. It's not that far off really.

was going to post what azazello was going to.....she has written about the business she was in anyway....

Her family runs a party products business, so it makes sense to me. I expect the Middletons asked for palace approval before they did it, seeing as how they are wedged firmly up Her Maj's arse.

Can't say I blame the girl, who wouldn't make the most of it in her position?

Cashing in on the connection would be to blatantly advertise using the royal connection. Is she doing this? (I have no idea as I really am not interested in the tittle-tattle media). WRT the Queen being horrified, I'm sure she doesn't give a shit!

squoosh · 26/10/2012 19:53

I notice the publishers aren't above popping a tasteful arse shot on the book's cover. Grin

To be honest, if I was Pippa I'd probably have done the same. She seems to have all the negatives of royal fame without any of the benefits.

Disclaimer: I am not a Royalist in any shape or form.

Yes but she wouldn't be massively publicised the way she has been if her sisy wasn't the future Queen.
For that matter it's very possible she wouldn't have been published at all if it weren't for her connections.

It's not like there aren't plenty of party planning-type books out there already.

Of course she is does it really matter the royals are not put up on the pedestal they once were

diddl · 26/10/2012 20:01

Could have been something she was planning anyway.

But now she´s got loads of publicity.

Not really her fault that some papers treat her as a celeb, is it?

Make the most of it-they´ll sure enough be sticking the boot in at the first opportunity.

Using connections-it´s hardly as if she´s invented it!!

Her family run a party planning Buisness. She's using her knowledge and name to make some money, I think we all would given the opportunity.

I can't for one minute imagine the Queen being horrified about it, I bet she couldn't careless!

YABU!

Why shouldn't she ? People cash in on all sorts of things.

The answer is simple - if you don't like it, don't buy it

Absolutely anonacfr!

I just find it all really distasteful, undignified and superficial. Especially with all the gratuitous celebrating going on as if she's really achieved something. Diddl you're right that it's not her fault she's treated like a celeb by the press, but now she is actively courting attention for her own material gain - how long I wonder before we get weeping and wailing about invasion of privacy.

I feel rather sorry for her actually, being famous for supposedly upstaging her sister on her wedding day, which I do not for a second think she did.

I couldn't care less about her cashing in either, which I don't think she is anyway.

Also, anything she does do is going to get tarred with the "cashing in on Royal Connection". If she does nothing she'll be "lazy workshy toff who can't be bothered to work because of Royal Connections". When you're linked to the Royal Family at such a high level it's not as if you can go and work in a dry cleaners, is it ? (and you'd probably be accused of stealing a job off someone that needed it or using your Royal Connection to get it).

Pippa can't win.

I had a look at her book in Tesco. It looks really nice with classy photos and easy recipes etc. would never buy it but it looks like a good product for what it is.

I wonder what her tips are though

*Cristal is frightfully common
*Check references before hiring waiting staff
*Only used monogrammed toilet paper
*Gifts to host/hostess must cost no less than £300
*Have your moat cleaned before guests arrive
*Impress ones guests with an Iceland prawn ring
