because according to a faceook idiot friend this is brain washing and will lead to the child wanting to convert to islam

Softlysoftly Wed 24-Oct-12 20:10:35

Well my MIL will be hosting our Eid party and shall absolutely be scheduling in the annual "brainwashing of local kids" section. She uses Freddos and the power of hypnosis doncha know.

Be warned.....

SauvignonBlanche Wed 24-Oct-12 20:10:37

Why would you care about the opinion of anyone so stupid?

pigletmania Wed 24-Oct-12 20:11:15

Silly bigot. Can't elide there are people with such views

iklboo Wed 24-Oct-12 20:11:51

I'd rather DS went to an Eid party than meet someone like that fool.

Brodicea Wed 24-Oct-12 20:12:08

Of course you should let your child go! Being exposed to different cultures in enriching. I went to a CofE school and I'm not a Christian so that is bollocks.
Also your twatty 'friend' is an idiot to link a Muslim festival Eid with brainwashing, you don't hear people cancelling Xmas because of Christian fundamentalism...

JaxTellerIsMyFriend Wed 24-Oct-12 20:12:57

I would love to go to an Eid party.

arf at brainwashing with Freddos. grin

Emandlu Wed 24-Oct-12 20:13:16

yes I'm sure going to an Eid party will make her muslim, in much the same way as celebrating Christmas makes people Christian.

Your friend is an idiot.

Witchety Wed 24-Oct-12 20:13:33

Lol, our neighbours had one! Wasn't it a while ago < clueless>

cynister Wed 24-Oct-12 20:13:42

I promise your LO will not get brainwashed but will get tonnes of yummy food..I think your spacebook friend needs to pull their head out of their arse though..

Florin Wed 24-Oct-12 20:13:46

I would love it if my little boy was invited to an Eid party. What a lovely way to be introduced to a different religion.

apostropheuse Wed 24-Oct-12 20:13:46

YANBU - your friend is.

lalaland30008 Wed 24-Oct-12 20:14:38

Delete the 'friend' and let your dd enjoy the party.

I would love to go to one it's probably more fun than Christmas.

KristinaM Wed 24-Oct-12 20:16:06

My Dh was invited to one while away on business and he LOVED it. I'm very jealous of your DD- apparently the food is wonderful . If I were you I woudl try to tag along

LittleMissFlustered Wed 24-Oct-12 20:16:30

It's Eid, it's celebratory. Let them go and have a fun time. Get rid of the twit on farcebook!

catgirl1976 Wed 24-Oct-12 20:16:53

I'd convert to anything for a Freddo right now.......there's not a crumb of chocolate in the house and I want some sad

YANBU OP other than to know such a twunt. Even on facebook

Softlysoftly Wed 24-Oct-12 20:20:04

Witchety there are 2 greedy bastards grin one at the end of Ramadan and one a while later.

You get new clothes as a gift to wear too!

JurassicFart Wed 24-Oct-12 20:22:19

We went to an aqiqah (Islamic baptism equivalent) and a family member on DP's side asked us not to go out of 'principle' because she'd read somewhere that Christmas was in danger of being banned because of 'the Islamics'.

Stupid people are everywhere, just ignore and be glad you live in a society where your DCs are able to experience all these cultures.

Firawla Wed 24-Oct-12 20:32:29

it's ridiculous, im sure your dc will enjoy it so just ignore the fb comment and dont give it a 2nd thought

MamaBear17 Wed 24-Oct-12 20:33:45

Send your child, ignore the bigot. People like that make me cross.

Fakebook Wed 24-Oct-12 20:36:42

What an idiot. Yes a 3 year old will really be clued up about the meaning of a whole religion in a space if 2-3 hours hmm.

Witchety Wed 24-Oct-12 20:37:50

softly thanks, I wondered! Next doors sounded fun.... Food smelt good too. I love my Muslim neighbours!

AnyoneforTurps Wed 24-Oct-12 21:44:32
