AIBU?

To think that Steve Backshall should leave the wildlife alone?

He's on BBC1 now, prodding, poking and antagonising the wildlife. No wonder they are deadly they want him to leave them alone. Hmm

I could never watch Steve Irwin for the same reason...the way he used to just leap on top of animals and wrestle them to the ground was unnecessary and quite frankly, all a load of bravado shite for the cameras.

I suppose he got his comeuppance when that stingray got him.

I don't watch for the wildlife.

My mother- who was nearly 90 at the time- said "he deserved it- serve him right" when Steve Irwin died. I was shocked- but I did see her point. Odd thing to hear a sweet little old lady say, though!

Yes I hated watching Steve Irwin too Campari. it was like 'leave the bloody crocodile alone'. I hope he wasn't goading the Stingray. Sad

Oooo he can delve into my undergrowth any day - no complaints here.

On reading back i'd just like to confirm, no wildlife in my undergrowth.

Bugger

Well if there was he would want to poke it with a stick til it came out Ivana. Then be all cross when it bit him. Grin

Yes, I hate to see any animal tormented even if it is by someone who's just interested in them and trying to make some programme. The animal doesn't know that and is just trying to protect itself Sad

My cornsnake strikes at me when I open the door to clean his viv out even though he's perfectly tame and we've known each other for ages. Animals like their personal space too Smile

I had little sympathy for Steve Irwin either and was disappointed to see that his children are being encouraged to continue the wildlife tormenting too (his son has apparently just wrestled a crocodile the other week) Hmm

Sparkling - wrong end for teeth... maybe that's where I've been going wrong all these years.

Steve Backshall was worriyng a Tarantula yesterday. I was willing it to shower him with that hair stuff thing they do.

We need to stop the poking and prodding of the wildlife for entertainment purposes IMO.

Thank heavens for people like David Attenborough who show real respect for animals and their habitats...he's managed to make all those brilliant documentaries without once jumping on an alligator's neck.

Exactly Campari. The Deadly 60 are only deadly because they hare Steve Backshall.

Grin@Campari - I know how you feel.

Steve "Irritating" Irwin spawned a whole array of breathless wide-eyed eejits going around aggravating animals and being "amazed" by them.

AND he dangled his (then baby) son over a crocodile-infested pond. Angry

Hoist by his own petard I reckon.

I found it hard to feel sorry - he pushed it once too often.
Although it was very funny when a Kimodo Dragon chased him up a tree once and bit half of his boot off.

When I rule the world, all these New Order wildlife types will be rounded up and poked with sticks by hordes of vengeful fauna.

People like Chris Packham and David Attenborough will be exempt of course. They are respectful and non-intrusive.
