Right was invited to dinner by sil, thought oh lovely sunday dinner

Got the kids cleaned up and oh put on a shirt , brought a smart bottle of veno

Got ther only to be greeted by cocktail sausages, garic bread and the cheap magtertia pizza yu get from iceland

There was 6 of us including them there was one pizza, one garlic bread and 8 cocktail sausages WTF

This is not because they are poor my brother is a chemical engineer ffs and drives a TVR

I would never serve that to any guest never mond the poor content its also the amount

We have had to get the children a ready roasted chicken on the way home with some salad and jackets

If you are going to invite somone for dinner then give them somthing decent and filling or dont bother

I would have had no issue with just visiting for a while then going home yo my roast ffs

TidyGOLDDancer Sun 21-Oct-12 16:54:47

Oh yes, this could be good!

And YANBU OP, just for the record!

Lovesoftplay Sun 21-Oct-12 16:54:47

That does sound a bit tight, but I dunno if I'd be fuming about it?!?

AKissIsNotAContract Sun 21-Oct-12 16:54:53

Does your sister run Newton's catering?

lalaland30008 Sun 21-Oct-12 16:55:58

Horrendous, don't speak to her or your bil again, and go to the local papers with a photo of your starving kids.

Riddo Sun 21-Oct-12 16:56:37

Did she forget you were coming? YANBU btw.

BestestBrownies Sun 21-Oct-12 16:56:40

WitchesTit Sun 21-Oct-12 16:56:46

I'm going to have to run to tesco for cocktail sausages and a pizza......

Fishwife1949 Sun 21-Oct-12 16:56:58

My oh is not impressed and moaned all the way home and tbh i am right with him on this one espically as this is the first time i had been to theres

MikeLitorisBites Sun 21-Oct-12 16:57:22

Op, did they specifically invite you for food or just a visit?

SuePurblybilt Sun 21-Oct-12 16:57:40

Were there pickled onions?

Fishwife1949 Sun 21-Oct-12 16:58:22

How could she forget she invited me and then rang this moring to confirm

quoteunquote Sun 21-Oct-12 16:58:25

Just invite them next week, and make sure you do a decent sunday meal, at least six courses and finishing with a nice port, and cheese board.

is that what they normally eat for sun lunch?

Fishwife1949 Sun 21-Oct-12 17:00:20

SuePurblybilt might have been a bit more of filling meal if there was

And yes we were invited for dinner

Hope you brought the vino home with you!

Fishwife1949 Sun 21-Oct-12 17:01:31

I have no idea if thats what they normally have because its the 1st time i have been there

But i really hope nope as my sil has a 2 year old

puds11 Sun 21-Oct-12 17:02:39

Is a cocktail sausage the new pombear grin

ThreadWatcher Sun 21-Oct-12 17:02:59

I'd do as quote says - once

But not invite them again unless she seriously upped her game next time you went there.

laurenamium Sun 21-Oct-12 17:13:53

grin invite them round next week... Do a tinfoil pineapple full of cocktail sausages and pickled onion and cheese cubes on sticks and a few bowls of pombears! Make it a new tradition bear

laurenamium Sun 21-Oct-12 17:14:09

YANBU by the way!

McHappyPants2012 Sun 21-Oct-12 17:29:37

Not seen bear in along time smile

That's an easy night tea for the kids, while me and DH has a sneaky Chinese, not something to serve for Sunday afternoon dinner
