I have norovirus and the DC needed feeding.

Feeling guilty about serving up such crap, but really couldn't face cooking sad

ZombTEE Fri 19-Oct-12 16:13:41

Yes. YABU

Where do you live so I can ring SS and report you?

missymoomoomee Fri 19-Oct-12 16:14:26

I've been known to throw toast in the general direction of my kids for their tea when I have been really ill. YANBU at all. Hope you feel better soon op.

cheekydevil Fri 19-Oct-12 16:14:57

Probably safer for them to eat something that you haven't prepared yourself anyway....no offense but you have a contagious bug.
Hope you feel better soon. thanks

TomsBentPinky Fri 19-Oct-12 16:15:00

Don't be ridiculous. Thats a fine dinner considering you aren't up to cooking.

yummumto3girls Fri 19-Oct-12 16:15:07

YANBU give yourself a break at least you fed them! Hope you feel better soon.

troubador Fri 19-Oct-12 16:15:20

Thanks. They're eating it all up as well, the little gits. They usually turn their noses up at my cooking.

Notquite Fri 19-Oct-12 16:15:23

Blimey, well done for feeding them at all. Get well soon.

troubador Fri 19-Oct-12 16:16:00

cheekydevil - good point re: safer not to cook. Although they gave the virus to me!

Latara Fri 19-Oct-12 16:16:35

YANBU. I eat ready meals a lot... actually that may not be the best recommendation ever, sorry.

Latara Fri 19-Oct-12 16:17:09

d & v is horrible so get well soon!

HoneyDragon Fri 19-Oct-12 16:17:19

Sorry I am afraid you will go to Hell sad

You put a cling covered meal in the microwave and had minimal contact with it reducing the spread of germs.

Just because you are ill and tired does not excuse you from lovingly preparing a fabulous meal from scratch and definitely transferring germs to your children.

Really. What sort of Mother are you?

<<shakes head sadly>>

<<checks own dc's chicken nuggets and potato stars are still in the freezer>>

Fairylea Fri 19-Oct-12 16:17:31

I do this sometimes when I'm not even ill !!! (Lazy arse).

Yanbu. Get well soon.

Convert Fri 19-Oct-12 16:18:15

You should be ashamed of yourself. It is only acceptable to give your children ready meals if you are too busy dying your hair and having a glass of wine to cook. Got to go, kids macaroni cheese has just pinged grin

TomsBentPinky Fri 19-Oct-12 16:18:20

mmmm potato stars

LadyBeagleEyes Fri 19-Oct-12 16:18:30

Don't understand why that would be a bad tea, even if you didn't have norovirus.
Nothing wrong with sausages and mash.

FireOverBabylon Fri 19-Oct-12 16:19:22

All the salt and fat on a one-off basis....you bad mother you! wink

Did they enjoy it?

And are you feeling any better?

RubyFakeNails Fri 19-Oct-12 16:19:57

Oh come on. You're feeling guilty for serving up a ready meal?! I think I better be grateful that social services hasn't visited my house or that of everyone I know.

Do people seriously cook from scratch all the time and feel guilty if they don't?

troubador Fri 19-Oct-12 16:20:37

Hmmm..maybe I've been missing a trick then though I do have form for taking them to mcdonalds for their tea on a Friday afternoon.

Glass of wine sad Friday night and no wine sad sad

ZombTEE Fri 19-Oct-12 16:23:44

BTW we had scampi and chips last night.

Or as I call it 'fling in the oven night'.

Convert Fri 19-Oct-12 16:24:23

Oh, sorry that was insensitive of me! Hope you're feeling better soon. In time for a Saturday night glass of wine grin

HoneyDragon Fri 19-Oct-12 16:27:39

Tee

That's what dh calls Cooking.
grin

bedmonster Fri 19-Oct-12 16:30:59

Ruby we do cook from scratch the majority of the time but tonight they are having shop bought filled pasta! And I feel a lot guilty but I do think I need to unclench a little when it comes to it. Still couldn't bring myself to buy the pasta sauce too though!!!
OP when you feel like shit ready meals are there to be used - that's why its called convenience food! They're eating, there's minimal washing up, what's not to like?!
Feel better soon.

cheekydevil Fri 19-Oct-12 16:32:18

Do you know it is a fact that you are less likely to pick up bugs if you drink alcohol?

LadyBeagleEyes Fri 19-Oct-12 16:34:38

Really cheeky?
That explains why I never get D&V then.
