to feel sad I've never been anyone's best friend?

I've never been overly popular but have always had friends.

And whilst at different points in my life I've had friends I feel close to, and would class as my closest friend, I've never been anyone's closest/best friend.

Even my dh who adores me, says I'm not his closest friend as I'm his wife, so not his closest friend as they are not the same thing.

AIBU to wish I was someone's dearest friend?

I know what you mean. I did have a best friend for the 2 years of sixth form and have had friends since but not the same. Having said that, I've probably grown out of caring about it.

Erm...I don't know.

Sometimes I think I have had a BF, but then realised they are really popular and have lots of other great friends, posibly some they like more than me. But do they have one best friend. Eh?

How old are you? I don't think I had one until I was in my 30s (and it's the same one now). Apart from DH, who is also my best friend - I think your DH is wrong to distinguish between wife and friend like that. In a strong relationship, your partner has to be your friend as well.

I am in the same situation, but I have three friends that I could not decide between so it is fine by me.

One of them woke her hubby and sent him on a 300 mile round trip to get me and my DC when I needed her to.

One of them will take my calls at any time of the day or night and puts me back together whatever the reason I am falling apart.

The other wants to move near to wherever I move to when I go to uni next year so she can help with my kids.

I would do the same for any of them

Could you choose between them?

Would you want friends to choose between you and someone like you?
