To be feeling guilty

Im signed off work with stress-related illness at the moment, and I have crunchingly bad period pains today (i have endometriosis).
So I'm in bed in my nightie with a pile of dirty laundry to get through, unwashed hair and a shopping list that ends to be ticked off. Instead of relaxing, I'm feeling incredibly guilty.
The list of things I should be doing is going round and round in my head and I feel dirty & lazy for lying here. I don't know whether to drag myself down to the shops to make myself feel useful, or to stay here and try to relax.
*sigh

Can you do an online shop? Or ask someone to just puck up essentials?

I could ask DH to get the things we need. But then I'll just feel even guiltiest because he is working hard and I'm lounging about

I'd stay there.

Is there anyone who can help you get the essentials?

Do you need to get up and do stuff?

I wouldn't feel guilty about it. You're off work sick, you've got bad period pains and you feel rotten. I can't think of a better reason to stay in bed. Tbh.

Would you feel better if you had a nice long soak in the bath do you think?

If you think you'd be well enough to drag yourself down to the shops, why not have a bath and then pop some washing in the machine instead?

Then let your DH pick up some essentials on his way home?

take some strong painkillers, and go have a warm bath, that should help with the pain, and also make you feel generally a bit more alive..

shove the washing in the machine, and then see if you feel like going shopping..

a bit of fresh air and exercise really does help with both period pains and feeling stressed, even if you just go and get the shopping you need for the next day or so..

Run a hot bath, it'll help the period pains and you can maybe wash your hair in the bath for once.

If you're already suffering with stress, then you need to to tackle this slowly as it doesn't add to your existing stress issues. Do you have food in for tonight, and is it raining where you are? If you have food tonight, focus on the washing. however, if it's raining, you can't readily get washing dry - sort out a load that can be tumble dried if you have a dryer. If not, go back to the shopping list.

when did you last eat / take pain killers? After your bath / before it if you feel particularly low, get yourself something decent to eat, so toast not chocolate, and a drink and some painkillers. You'll start to feel a little better then can start to make plans.

Ok I've just put a wash on. I feel a bit more productive now. In half an hour I'll have a shower and see how I am then. Thank you kind ladies of MN Thanks

You are not "lounging around", you are ill, signed off by a GP, and are bleeding with strong abdominal pains. If you were lounging around, you'd be dressed, and lying on the sofa with your feet up watching crap and eating chocolate. That's not the description you've given.

I know fire. I think I find it hard to judge how much of not wanting to do things is stress, and how much is because of my period pains today. MN is a good barometer. Seems most people would think it's ok to do only little hits with bad period pain. So I feel reassured to rest & do what I can, not force myself to do things.

I think you're right with the 'little hits' but I wouldn't leave the house if I were you.

I know that sometimes with me, the less I do...the less I actually want to do so I give myself a kick up the arse.

However, by doing little jobs indoors instead of going shopping...you can at least stop immediately if it gets too much.

Hope you're better soon Thanks
