I had a work colleague who actually phoned in once and said this to the manager. Infact, his exact words were "I don't feel like coming in today, and if I do come in, I won't be working to my full ability".

My manager THANKED him for being truthful and gave him a day off unpaid.

yes, but what the hell is dougie?

as an aside, my dad once didn't show up for work (years ago, back when he was a miner). The next day, his boss said 'an where the fuck were yo yesterdee?' and my dad replied 'I thawt fuck it an' rolled ower.' and his boss laughed and said 'fair enuff, lad'

(got to be done in the accent to work grin )
